ALMOST idiot-proof!
I've used a LOT of pneumatic tourniquets in my day. To squeeze the blood out, we use something called and Eschmark bandage. This is VERY similar, except it has INSTRUCTIONS and "hey dummy" markings to make it easy to use. Step 1. S = Stretch--look at the tick marks and make them look like squares--that's the right amount of stretch Step 2. W = Wrap--wrap it around the area where you wish to cut off flow. Wrap it tightly. Wrap it several times (there's plenty of length) AND (not a step) Step 3. T = Tuck--tuck the remaining roll under the wrapped tourniquet. The stretch will hold it in place and add a bit more tension. These feel so familiar in my hands and are second-nature to use. I keep one in my vehicle, an emergency bag, and at home. For even better info and training, find a Stop the Bleed course near you!! When seconds count, YOU could save a life!

Multi-Use Trauma Tool
Works best as a tourniquet for children and pets - less so as an adult tourniquet - especially if being applied one-handed on yourself. Nice feature is that it can be used for other purposes - holding pressure on top of dressings; in place of a triangular bandage (cravat) to sling and immobilize extremities, etc. Very compact and easy to carry, usage instructions are printed right on the device. I still have windlass tourniquets and modular pressure bandages in my kit, but I include this as well. Get trained and keep your kit with you - the life you save may be your own!

Useful tool for more than just limbs
Excellent item for any first aid kit. It can be used as a pressure band for dressings, a tourniquet, and used as a sling. People might say it's not very good for a tourniquet but it's damn good, you have fool proof instructions and it can be used on animals as well! Overall impressive but 1 star off because it has a tendency to get stuck in IFAKs.

An innovative tourniquet that also has other first aid / EMS uses
This is an innovative approach to bleeding control. The quality is good, the tourniquet works as it should, and it's compact and easy to carry (especially while still in the package). It also works well to secure a pressure bandage or splint, so it has first aid / emergency medical care uses beyond simply being a tourniquet. The only significant limitation of this product is that while it's easy to apply to someone else using both your hands, and relatively easy to apply to your own leg if both your hands are available, it's difficult to apply effectively using only one hand. Overall, it's a great tool for treating others, but less easy to use for self-care than some other designs.

Great product
I had the fortune of working with one of the inventors of this way back in 2012 or 13, as I recall. I went to a 2 day Tactical Medical course in CT. I was introduced to this TQ down there, and have carried at LEAST one since. I have only used these in training (realistic training-if you have never actually used a TQ, to where it starts to do what its supposed to-you probably havent trained enough with them), and redo a course that includes the use of various TQs-to include this type, every year. One of the best things about this product, is it is simple to use. You simply stretch and wrap. And, you have the advantage of a WIDE compression footprint. Often times (and, I learned this in that very class), a severed artery can REALLY retract way up a damage limb. You need to get as high as you can, and compress the artery. The more of the artery that is compressed, the better your chances of stopping the bleed. This product does exactly that. We also watched a video on "field expedient" TQs. Do yourself a favor. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need a TQ and dont have one-apply pressure. Dont "make" one with belts, shoelaces, etc. Get one of these. Hell, buy several. I keep one in my daily carry bag, one in my car, one on my range belt, and two on my motorcycle.

I did some research and this looks like a good tourniquet. Other's I considered are the SOF Tactical Tourniquet Wide (SOFTT-W), the Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) Gen 7, and the Israeli Bandage. I bought the SWAT-T, and some Israeli bandages. The SOFTT-W and CAT also look good. The SWAT-T can also be used as a compression bandage (elastic wrap). I hope it never needs to be used. It's heavier than it looks. In its packet, it weighs 116g, and measures 105x60x18mm. The packet has 8 easy to tear nooks, 1 on each short end, and 3 on each long end, which will make it very quick to deploy. The packet it comes in seems heavy duty, that it won't puncture or abrade easily, protecting and keeping the tourniquet clean. The packet includes instructions on it, with diagrams, and it looks like the tourniquet should have instructions printed on it and diamonds that turn into squares when you get the correct tension. I bought it for bike packing. In case I have a massive stack. I'm not sure how suitable it would be for hiking to treat snake bites, it may function similar to snake bite bandages. This would need to be checked with someone more qualified. It may be on the heavy side for hiking. I like the compact size and what looks to be easy to use even for someone unskilled.
