The Fat Cat is Back: Found my long lost favorite childhood book
I love this book. Had it as a child, some 40 years ago, and thought I'd find it some day. Well, I never did until I looked on Amazon.com. Actually, I found it on Amazon 4-5 years ago, but it was very expensive (like $30.00 or more, if I recall correctly). So, periodically I checked for lower prices and eventually it came down. The book is out of print, so it is rare. The seller got it to me very quickly, and even with a nice personal thank you note. The book was in great shape, and actually looked exactly and precisely like the one from my childhood. It was just what I wanted. And the story is great. I have always wanted to read it to my boys, which I did the day it arrived. Now, both of them are beyond the age of having Dad read to them, but they loved it. The story is a hoot. Slightly silly, slightly creepy, and lots of fun. Thanks Amazon.

A Lot of "Remember-ability" - a great book - froma great-gramma
I read this book to my children, and they absolutely loved it so much that, being a paperback, I had to replace it several times because it simply wore out. Then, as parents, they began to talk at a family gathering, about the characters in the book, and how they loved it. I looked through my library of children's books, and my copy was in a sorry state. Expecting my first local grandchild, I replenished my stock. That first baby is now a married 22 year old who is studying to be a Rabbi! He loves children, and loves to read this book to his younger siblings (with 7 siblings, the youngest is 5). The book got worn out again. Now, with 4 great-grandchildren, I have purchased this latest copy and I find that my grown grandchildren love to hear me read it to the younger grandchildren also. I'm waiting for the day when the newest great-grandchild is old enough to listen to the funny story, and see the great pictures, and appreciate the funny names in the book. Of course, the children need to talk afterwards to be informed that the events in it really can't happen, but that's a small price, and I think they already know that it's not real, and the events cannot happen. I highly recommend this book to parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. As you can see, it's well-remembered, and talked about for many, many years.

CUTE STORY
This was my children's favorite story growing up. I don't see this as political at all. I was happy to find this for a gift to a family member at her baby shower! Her child will love it too I hope! I even told her she has to read this to her child while making silly voices! Glad I found this!

You will read this book over and over and over again.
We loved the book when my children were small. My son purchased it at the Scholastic Book Fair at his school in the 80's. We read it over and over and over again to the point that it was in shreds. So I had to purchase another one for my grandchildren. When it arrived my son (their father) was so pleased to see it that he had to read it immediately to the children who were delighted by the tale . This is funny and amazingly simple and the illustrations are colorful and sweet. A great book to teach reading skills to the very young. SWEET.

The Fat Cat: a repetitive but funny picture book for young readers.
"There once was an old lady who was making some gruel. She had buisness with a neighbor lady, and asked her cat to watch it while she was gone....."Thus begins a story of a VERY hungry little kitty cat, who not only eats the gruel....but the pot, and the old lady, and more and more! The cat gets fatter and fatter as he goes around eating everybody he meets to the point he resembles a furry hot-air ballon with shorts and a blue jacket. The story is(admittedly)a bit trite and repetitive , but very, VERY funny. I remember owning this as it kid, so I had to get it again. I don't want to spoil the ending, but let's just say the cat gets far worse than just a simple case of indegestion. Maybe a tad on the morbid side, but why complain? It's nothing you couldn't show your little 2 or 3 year old.

Great Condition
I LOVE this book. The only downside with my purchase was someone had written their name on the inside of the book cover. I thought I had purchased a used book with no writing. That is the only negative I can say, otherwise the book was in excellent shape.

This cat is soooo fat!
This book is really funny. My daughter loves it, I love it. The story is quite simple and nobody will be shocked by its content, except if one thinks that Perrault's Little Red Riding Hood or Snow White are too morbid. The drawings are really cute too.
