OUTSTANDING Study !!!
I was thoroughly amazed and enlightened by Mr. Brown's book, "The Real Kosher Jesus". If any person who wishes to learn what Yahushua really was all about without the usual religious distortions, then this book is an absolute must read. I would encourage, even beg, all decedents of Abraham and mainstream Christians to carefully examine the arguments and evidence presented by Mr. Brown in this book. Be prepared to engage in a clear, masterful, thought-provoking rebuttal to the myths regarding the Messiah perpetuated over millennia and still popular with many Jewish, Christian and Islamic scholars to this day. This book is essential reading for those who wish to "cut to the chase" in their search for the original message presented by Yahushua the Rabbi. Dare to exert real and disciplined objectivity! Reject ALL preconceptions and set aside traditional objections to Yahushua's claims of being THE promised Messiah and Son of Elohim. Examine carefully the facts for yourself. If Yahushua is indeed who He claims to be.... then those of us who truly seek YHWH will want to know the truth. The implications of such knowledge is vast and eternal. This book is an excellent start in examining the real 'Jesus', i.e. Yahushua. I can not over-recommend this book. Please study it !

Why 'Christian' Doctrines Are Really 'Jewish'
Michael L. Brown comes to this 2,000-year-old controversy equipped as few if any authors ever were who wrote on the subject before him. To begin with, he is advantaged to possess the dual perspective of a Jew and also that of a believer in Jesus (Yeshua) as the Christ (Messiah). In addition, Brown has the benefit of scholarly academic training in the relevant ancient languages. And through the marvels of digitization, computers and World Wide Web, he enjoys unprecedented access to both Christian and Judaic literature from the period of Second Temple Judaism. But Brown brings still more to the table--he has the uncommon gift of thinking both inside and outside the box. He does not draw back from the most contentious of Jewish-Christian issues, addressing directly the Trinity, the Atonement and the Incarnation. As he does so, Brown repeats traditional Christian arguments insofar as they are internally coherent and have some basis in the biblical and extra-biblical literature of the period. But he also goes further, and this is where his unique gifting, passion, and methodology stand out most conspicuously and where his work shines the brightest. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of Talmudic and other rabbinical literature, Brown musters quotations, paraphrases and citations that illustrate the "Jewishness" of the principles behind the doctrines of Trinity, Atonement and Incarnation. With that in hand, he is ready to argue persuasively that it is quintessentially "Jewish" to discuss and to analyze these principles, and also to accept the "Christian" conclusions to which they legitimately lead.

Wonderful book!
Dr. Michael Brown is a Messianic Jew who really understands our "Hebrew roots" and shows believers how to correctly grasp the Hebrew Scriptures (both Old and New Covenants). His debates with an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi friend help believers to know more intimatly the Savior of all Jews and Gentiles, and why we believe what we believe.Though having earned an MDiv and DMin in seminary, when I began studying Hebrew roots of our faith some 17 months ago, I started a course of discovery into the most wonderful insights concerning the New Testament, and the Old Testament as well. What a delight to study under well-versed Jewish believers to learn the many, many nuances of Hebrew culture in its Scriptural context. The Scriptures are opening up anew, once more. Many passages that have not been understood after decades of reading the Bible in many different translations have begun to make sense and enlighten the "eyes of my understanding" afresh.

Well done, Informative
Brown reminds us that Jesus (Yeshua) was a Jew and 100% his early followers were Jews, both before and after His resurrection. Well thought out and presented in both an interesting and informative way with plenty of supporting referrences. It corrects, and explains, many of the errors in the misguided book, "The Kosher Jesus" while providing a wealth of information about Jesus, His environment, and Jewish life around 50 AD, as well as in later history. Brown aptly presents that Jesus did not start a new religon, but fulfilled the Law and Prophecies that had been made centuries earlier."The Real Kosher Jesus" is an easy read with facts and revelations constantly being presented to the readerA very minor question I have is, "Why would a religious man like Brown adopt the athiest mantra of referring to dates as BCE and CE rather than the long established & accepted Messiah oriented BC and AD?" (It just rubs me wrong when someone yields to PC.)

A marvelous adventure back into the original context from which the the good news of the Messiah to the world has been wrenched.
Michael Brown meticulously researches everything. His claims are thoroughly documented and his reasoning is flawless. One of the weapons which he uses in his arsenal is a praiseworthy knowledge of Rabbinic writings from the Talmud to the targumim to the Zohar, the writings of Josephus, Rashi, Maimonodes and others. Seamlessly, he paints a picture of the nature of the Messiah as it is woven throughout the Tanach and literally reinforced by extrabiblical Rabbinic and Jewish documentation. Michael Brown not only captured the essential Jewishness of Jesus but, in the process exalted Him in such a manner as only the Messiah, the savior of the world, the light to the Gentiles and the glory of the Jewish people can be exalted. By the time I'd finished the last chapter I found myself reciting a personal doxology! To the praise of God, I believe we are entering a new era in the saga of Christianity. Jesus is finally being revealed to the world as the Jew that He is! And I'm convinced that God has equipped Dr. Brown as one of those to be a point man in this great enterprise.

Not just academic but life enhancing too.
Very well researched and written with compelling arguments. A good 'staple' for a Believer's bookshelf. It has not just been a matter of academic study for me - it has touched my heart to hear fresh insights about my 'Beloved'. Thank you!

Messiah explained
This is a valuable asset to any library, but especially for those whose reading involves discovering what lies beneath the surface.I will state at this point, I grew up in an "exclusive christian" home, but have been on a journey to discover the spiritual side of the faith as well as its Hebraic roots.Michael Brown has a clear and readable style (which suits me, as I struggle to read any book quickly!).No matter what your basis of faith, I recommend this book

Great book about Jesus in the Old Testament
This book is great for anyone who desires to preach to the Jewish community, as well as for Jews seeking to learn about Jesus. It contains many passages about Jesus in the Old Testament, as well as many Jewish traditions about the Messiah which predate the actual birth of Jesus and point to Him.

Amazing book! Very informative and it gives a good understanding of the Jewishness of Jesus and how important the Messiah is to Jews who waited for His coming and who are still looking for Him.

Thrilled, engaged, informed
This book opened my eyes to the Judaic pursuit of the person of Jesus. I was unaware that this was such a valid and vigorous academic pursuit within Judaism. The author has thoroughly engaged with this field providing engaging arguments for why Jews may accept and embrace Jesus truly as their Messiah!
