Surprised by the texture.
I ordered these to have in time for New Years to serve at a small get together along with the green tea version. They arrived quickly and in great condition despite having come from overseas.I have never had mochi before, but I wanted to try something different. First of all, when you order the 'pack of 8', it means eight boxes, not eight mochi. Each box has six small cakes, so by ordering the eight pack, you are getting 48 cakes, making the price very reasonable. Secondly, the texture is very doughy because the mochi is made by pounding sticky rice; I knew this and was still caught off guard by the soft chewiness. My mother even freaked out because she thought they were supposed to be cooked; they aren't, though you can heat them up. I've heard they taste better this way, but have yet to try it myself. The base taste of the filling (red bean) is similar to figs or dates, so it is very sweet, though the plain taste of the rice portion helps balance it out. Mochi aren't really something you can eat a lot of in one go because of the sweetness and the texture, but they do taste nice.I gave this five stars because of the timely shipping and condition of the product when it arrived. However, for taste and texture, I'd give it about 3 and a half stars.

Soft, fresh and perfectly balanced. Very nice.
Years ago, I lived in Japan and, while studying tea ceremony over several years, I developed a keen appreciation for tea sweets. At first, I liked the more western-styled treats. But as time passed, things like Hershey's Kisses lost their appeal and I found I really enjoyed the more mellow taste of yokan and other small-sized, azuki-bean treats -- alongside a lovely cup of deep green tea. Decades later, I still relish a nibble of yokan. More often, though, I look forward to the pleasure of one small red bean mochi treat...with a little pot of nicely brewed SA Fukamushi sencha. These sweets are fresh and delicious. Each one is like a little journey back to Kamakura.

Great for pre-packaged food.
Is it incredible, homemade mochi? Of course not. It's prepackaged stuff that came on a UPS truck. That said, it's good for what it is, and I have no complaints. I got exactly what I ordered, and I've been enjoying it as a quick snack.

So YUMMY!!!!!
My first intro to mochi was with the ice cream filled ones, and they are so very good. But, I don't always want ice cream yet I still want to snack on mochi. First, I looked into making my own, but no way is that happening because they aren't easy to make. So, I started looking for a good one to buy and found these. The bean filling sounded weird at first, but they are SO GOOD!!! The mochi itself is nice and soft and has a perfect consistency. The bean filling is actually great with it. Not to sweet, just right. These are my new favorite snack.Highly recommend these to any other mochi lovers out there. I haven't tried the sesame or green tea ones because these are just to good to switch to another flavor. YUM YUM!!!!! :)

Unlike 1st order
I liked my first red bean mochi order so I reordered before I finished the last box. 1st order mochi dated "Best before 05/05/2022", 2nd order dated"Best before 02/03/2022"! New order products were older than the previous order. Mochi were drier, stiff, no cornstarch powder evident, but red bean filling was okay. I'm very disappointed and will not reorder unless Amazon can guarantee mochi freshness.

Taste was not to my liking
The bean paste inside was not to my liking, it was not sweet enough considering the rice on the outside has not flavor, so all the flavor is based on the center filling, which of course was not sweet enough

Yum!
I've had mochi before and I loved them! I did not know where to buy them until one day, I decided to look on Amazon. Lo and behold, Amazon sells them! I was a little hesitant at first because I had never bought food from Amazon before. When those mochi arrived, I couldn't wait to try them. They were delicious!! They were fresh and tasty. Some people don't like the texture of mochi. It is very soft and chewy. The flavor is determined by what's inside. I finished all 8 boxes in one week and I'm ready to order more!

Satisfies the cravings!
I first had red bean mochi when visiting a friend in Oregon. It came in individually wrapped packages, and was bought from an Asian market. After that, I could not stop the cravings for more. I exhausted my local Asian markets in search of something to quell the cravings, finding a dry red bean cake-like thing claiming to be mochi, and a frozen steamed red bean filled dumping claiming to be mochi, and neither satisfied the craving. So when I found this, my expectations were not high. While the texture is not quite the same, the taste is perfect for sating the craving. My only complaint is that I wish they were bigger, and the "dough" wasn't as thick, so there would be more room for the filling.

Wonderful Mochis, but I got an old dry package
I love these Mochis because of their softness and the wonderful red been filling. However, this time I got a bad package, with the Mochis being totally dried out. The date of expiry is in November 2023 and hence when contacting the seller he refused taking the package back and sending a new one. Very unfriendly und customer-non-welcoming. I will buy somewhere else in the future.

Ist ok
Die Mochis sind zwar weich aber mir hat die Füllung nicht ganz geschmeckt.
