The rocks in the kit are very small and all jumbled up. It's hard to organize them properly because they don't look very much like the picture on the box.

This is ideal to test kids out on their interest in rock collecting. Great way to categorize rocks of one kind and store them for future reference.

I was very disappointed in this product. The picture on the box shows rock pieces that fill the tray spaces. The actual samples are MUCH smaller. Fragments really. Not worth the money.

I wish I could post the photograph of what the image on the box leads you to expect and show you the photograph of what was actually in the box. The image on the box leads one to believe that the rock samples are about 3 cm x 2.5 cm x 3 cm (W x D x H) while the samples are about 2.5 cm x 2 cm x 1 cm (W x D x H). They are substantially smaller than expected (about four and a half times smaller).

Il prodotto si presenta come una piccola scatola contenente 12 campioni di roccia molto piccoli, utili in dimostrazioni e lezioni. Il tutto corredato dal foglietto con la classificazione e da etichette da applicare per un "facile" riconoscimento. Purtroppo occorre essere fortunati, perché non sempre (ho preso anche la serie di rocce sedimentarie e metamorfiche) i campioni di roccia sono in ordine, quindi bisogna riordinarli e riclassificarli. Alcuni campioni sono fragili e si spezzano facilmente. Le piccole dimensioni possono essere un vantaggio o uno svantaggio a seconda di quello che si cerca; nel mio caso cercavo proprio campioni di 1-2 cm.Assegno 3 stelle per la fragilità dei campioni, per la scorretta e disordinata allocazione nella scatola e per la scarsa aderenza delle etichette numerate. Le etichette sono dei bollini adesivi con un numeretto dall'uno al dodici, ma già dopo qualche manipolazione, molti campioni li hanno persi. Servizio amazon impeccabile come al solito.

Samples are good. The samples are very small though. The indemnification card and packaging provided is good.

I bought three different sets, the sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock collection. It is true that the samples are a little smaller than what you see in the pictures, but they are not as bad as people claim. The smallest rocks I got are about 2cm, with varying weights. Some are bigger/ thicker, some are more like slabs, some are angular. This should go without saying but these rocks are natural specimens, not artificial things, therefore they cannot all look the same size and shape due to their different properties, they each break or cleave in specific ways hence the variation. So don't hope for your box to be an identical copy of the picture.Anyway they come with a helpful chart to identify each one and little numbers to stick on them so you know which is which along with a basic description. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, and the rock samples are a welcome addition to my collection. I think they are a good start for a beginner, to be honest though, if you can afford it or want to get a really good gift for someone you know, or just want to treat yourself, buy the full collection of boxes: Learning Resources GeoSafari Complete Rock Mineral and Fossils Collection, where you also get a mineral selection and very basic fossil selection. They are all basic sets, but they are a good beginner's foundation and could possibly create interest in an even bigger collection and life long hobby! I actually own a few geodes, crystal clusters, loads of tumbled stones, tektites and a few fossils, I'm not a hoarder by any means lol but there you go!
