Torah Studies: A Parsha Anthology Hardcover – January 1, 2011

Excellent commentary on the Torah reading of the week. Rabbi Sacks is always brilliant and his rendering of the Rebbe's comments are meaningful. Book is out of print and this seller delivered a beautiful clean copy.

This is one of the most valuable books in my Judaica library. It is an anthology of short but beautiful and inspiring teachings that represent distillations of Chabad teachings. Each chapter is a 3-4 page homily on the parsha..what's known as a "sicha," which is an informal discourse that the Rebbe gave over orally. They are lovely, and often profound. Read enough of them and you'll detect recurrent themes. Identify enough of those, and you end up with a decent understanding of what Chabad is all about, and you'll grow to respect it even if otherwise you don't identify with the movement.

The day I got this book, I opened it up to a random page and the first sentence that my eyes focused on was "The Messiah = Moses + 1". I was absolutely stunned. Now that I've started reading the book from the beginning, I can't wait to get back to that page again.As other reviewers have alluded to, the book doesn't explain everything comprehensively beyond any shadow of a doubt,but it does give one a challenging insight into the rich world of Judaic exegesis. I found that if I persevered with the parts that I didn't immediately understand, I nevertheless eventually reached a piece of wisdom I could readily comprehend despite my beginner level of knowledge in matters of Jewish religion and it's literature. I especially appreciated the breakdown on page 24 under the heading The Preservation Of Perfection.If you're reading this review, then this book is for you.

Great out-of-print book. Not clear why it is out-of-print. Previously I would only hear these discourses in shirum for Rabbi's reading and translating the Yiddush. Its great to have the whole thing in English so I can review, study, and share the Rebbe's wisdom with others.

These are amazing insights from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. They take you deeper into the meaning of Torah. It is a companion for any Jewsih home

If you are interested in Torah and understanding more, this is a great resource to enrich your Torah studies. Everyone should read this!
