Smucker’s Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 26 Oz. Jar

This is a one of a kind PB and it’s getting so hard to find that now I’m gonna grind my own. Comes out the same ya know!

Only ingredients are peanuts and 1% or less salt. It is "natural", certified U kosher, has no added sugar, is non GMO. When possible, I prefer organic, which this is not, but this is my affordable choice. I have eaten this for years and never had a problem with it. My dog likes it too as an occasional treat. I like the glass jar better than plastic of other brands. The lid has always been secure (I've had a problem with other brands). Stirring- yes, you will have to stir for awhile when first opening. When not stirred fully on first use, the result will be too oily on top and too solid on bottom. So I spend awhile stirring thoroughly before first use and tell myself I am getting good exercise. If stored in the fridge as suggested, further stirring is rarely needed later. With this jar being larger than the size commonly most available in stores, note that a regular spoon won't easily reach the bottom. That meant peanut butter all over my hand and spoon handle, no big whoop when the price is right for the size.

My mom fed us this when we were kids. I'm middle aged now and I am trying to cut out added sugars and unnecessary add ins where I can. I love this stuff. Yes, it is a pain to stir the first time. You have to find a method that works for you. Then you can refrigerate it and you don't have stir it again and it is much less runny. I now prefer this to anything that has palm oil or some kind of sweetner in it. I would recommend a salted version over a non salted one but it's not a deal breaker. And at the grocery store the larger size is actually one of the affordable peanut butters and you get a lot for the money. Fresh doesn't always have it unfortunately.

I always thought that peanut butter was peanut butter for the most part, until I tasted Smuckers Peanut Butter. This one is the perfect combo of creamy, salty, sweetness. It’s not hard to stir, it’s delicious on apples, blended in an açaí bowl, in a sandwich with jelly or honey, or just plain out of the jar, on a spoon. And second important to taste, just 2 ingredients, peanuts & a little bit of salt. I’m hooked!

Highly recommended for less sugar and crappy ingredients, and way more affordable than lots on that list, it requires a good stirring up and the fridge will keep it mixed longer. I require extra salt in my diet, and as peanut butters go, it's a bit light on the salt, but you could just add some in theory if you're allowed dietarily. It's a staple.

This is obviously made from Grade-A peanuts, such as are used by Planters, Skippy, etc. These companies pay the growers at the start of the season to guarantee first choice of the crop. The Smuckers flavor is so good that it must come from the top-grade. Smuckers makes another brand, Adams, which is clearly not top grade, though it does not have sugar. When my local WMart stopped carrying Smuckers, and started carrying Adams instead, I went with the Adams for a while, and it was okay. But it did not hold up over the long haul. I've been eating Smuckers for 20 years at least, and I have never tired of it. I LOVE peanut butter as much now as I did when I was a kid. But if I had nothing to choose from but the sugary brands, I'd quit eating PB. Buy a grinder and make my own out of Planters perhaps.
