The clip on them performed just fine for how it was used and it never fell ...
I purchased these a few months ago to use at a haunted trail. I was manning one of the two trailers we had running with paintball guns mounted on them allowing people to shoot zombies as we moved through the woods pulled by a tractor. The walkies held up very well to the dirt, sand, dust, water and even being hit by paintballs a few times. The clip on them performed just fine for how it was used and it never fell off, these were replacements for another model I purchased that did not stay on very well and incidentally got ran over by the other tractor. The walkies were plenty loud enough to hear over the rumbling of the tractor and firing of the 10 or 12 guns we had mounted to the trailers. The playback function works amazing and was of huge use when something was said and we didn't have to constantly call in for a repeat. The ability to use the rechargeable batteries included, or use AA batteries is awesome, they never ran out of juice then using them, but a great feature to have. Would highly recommend and will be purchasing more to use next year!

Pretty good.
The alert sound is extremely annoying and LOUD ... while voice levels are just barely acceptable. The voice level IS acceptable however, and these handsets are a remarkable waterproof, floating value.

I am SO DISAPPOINTED with this walkie talkie
I am SO DISAPPOINTED with this walkie talkie! I don't how the external reviews and star rating is so high for this. I had so much confidence that I didn't even test it until the night before my trip and was shocked when the speaker volume was so low even when turned up all the way. It's practically useless. That's when I began frantic searching only to see that several other reviewers posted the same concern. It's clearly a product defect that needs addressed. Stay away from this model until they overtly correct in the future.

Decent radio with some flaws
Very good radios. Unlike others, I have not had an issue with the sound being faint. I can hear clearly with both the speaker on the unit and an attached headset. I use these for in-helmet communications and they work well. The only issue I've found is that they do not function well when they get the slightest bit wet. Even though they're "waterproof," I got some rain on one and it wouldn't unlock/work for a week! The talk button is also funny on these - sometimes it will snap as if it is depressed, but you still have to press harder to begin communication. It could be a defect in my specific radios, but is annoying nonetheless. Hopefully this will be addressed in the future.

Subpar sound quality
I bought these radios to take kayaking and sailing...anything around water. We had some splash resistant Motorola MT350 that leaked the first time we took them kayaking (class I,II waters). The MT350 was really only designed to be resistant to light rain/sprinkles, so I wanted to find something that was actually submersible, floated, and was rechargeable using a USB cable. For me, the features on these radios are great, pretty much had what I was looking for. I thought the 20 second rewind was a nice feature and it worked as advertised. A minor nit was the "roger beep". I usually use it, but on these radios found the somewhat longer two-tone beep annoying. I was used to the very short MT350 "chirp". The deal breaker for me was a recent 11 hour drive with three vehicles, each with a walkie talkie. The Cobra CXT 1035R radios performed poorly. The sound level coming through to the others when transmitting from the Cobra was too low. It would probably be fine for quiet area, camping, etc, but we found it too low in a vehicle. On the receiving side, the speaker sounded tinny and hard to hear clearly, somewhat like one of the old small AM radios. The MT350 had clearer sound and the volume could be turned up more than on the CXT 1035R. We wondered if there was a waterproof membrane covering the speakers that affected the sound level/quality. I didn't test the range, as the vehicles were never more than about 1/4 or 1/2 mile apart. I wouldn't guess these are any worse or better than all the other radios in their price range. The listed ranges the manufacturers give are ridiculous anyway. I would have loved to keep the radios, but due to the sound quality, I returned them to Amazon. Now the search is back on.... for a truly waterproof walkie talkie that (hopefully) can be charged via USB.

Very Nice!
These walkie talkies are extremely nice, well built and rugged. They have clear, solid sound and are very easy to operate! They do EVERYTHING they are advertised to do! NO FAKE NEW advertising here! I love them!

Happy with these
We have got these wet and they remain in good working order. I haven't had the courage to just throw it in the pool to see if it floats. The playback feature is really helpful. Even though there are a lot of functions, the symbols on the handset make it fairly easy to figure out. They have pretty good range; we are able to talk, with a little bit of static, across the waterpark, about 1/4 mile apart. The height and width of the radio itself make it pretty small, but with the large antenna and thick body, it doesn't easily fit in a pocket (that's not really a complaint, because I'm sure those things are necessary to make this work the way it does; it's just for informational purposes). Overall, we are happy with our purchase.
