The Meross Matter Smart Plug Mini has been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. It was super easy to set up using Apple Home, and it connected flawlessly thanks to Matter support—no extra apps or hassle. The compact size is a big plus—it doesn’t block the second outlet, and it fits neatly behind furniture. The real standout feature is the energy monitoring. I can finally see how much power my devices are using in real time, which has helped me make smarter energy choices. It works reliably with automations and voice control (tested with Siri and Alexa), and the response time is instant. For the price, you’re getting premium features and solid performance. Highly recommend if you want a future-proof smart plug with energy insights!

Once setup they work well, however getting them setup was a pain. These use the 2.4 band of WiFi which they are very up front about. The problem comes with most modern equipment doesn’t split the bands up. On an iPhone you can’t choose to only use the specific band and unless they are both on the same band you can’t set them up. I ended up having to create a new SSID only using the 2.4 band. Once this was done, setup was easy. They integrate into Apple home perfectly and Siri controls them without issue. With the Meross app you can see energy use as well this and the home integrations were the main reasons I purchased these.

For the price, these plugs have to be the best to use with HomeKit, exactly what I needed. They work seamlessly with Siri and in the Home app. Takes literally 1 minute to add to your system and conveniently sized to fit in most sockets without getting in the way. A fraction of the price of some of the better known brands, but when they just work, why waste your money with that. I have over 10 of these dotted around the house with various appliances now turned “smart”. Being able to turn the kettle on before going downstairs, setting automations for an extractor fan in the bathroom, warming the bed with a heated blanket for just enough time for it to be nice and toasty, or having a fan stay on for a bit on the warmer days There are many different uses and I’ve not had one fail me yet. Will recommend these to anyone in the market.

I get on very well with Meross products, they just work. So when I needed some additional energy monitors I decided I'd try these newer Matter enabled models. I was pleased with how much smaller they are, previous models dominated the power socket and could be a bit difficult to organise when it comes to power strips where as these Matter units width wise aren't much bigger than a conventional plug. Initial setup is quite easy, although a "Hub" is required so when I plugged it into the wall my Alexa app (my smart home of choice) immediately said device detected and it was setup in seconds, the device works no issues at all. Although for the energy monitoring side of it, Alexa seems to only have on/off functionality and the Meross app contains the monitoring data, so whether or not I've gained anything going Matter over the older models remains to be seen but I'm sure as time goes on Matters reliability/functionality will start coming into its own where as the older models are "as is" I use timers so this doesn't affect me currently, but as I've used it in the past and it was useful - the last generation monitors have a "Standby Killer" function which turns off the unit when the power drops below a certain threshold, this seems oddly absent from the Matter units & I really hope they get updated to support it. All in all, very pleased with the appearance, functionality, and ease of setup. Edit: after initially stating the Standby Killer feature wasn't present on these Matter units, despite after initial setup there was no sign of firmware updates, later in the day I had a notification of firmware update which have been applied, Standby Killer is now present.

These are my 4th or 5th set of Meross plugs, but they refused to connect to my wifi. I tried disconnecting the 5Ghz channels, rebooting phone and router but with no success. I would have contacted Meross but there is no UK support service, however I did contact my broadband supplier EE who conducted several test and found no issues. As a final test I ordered a pair of Tapo P100 plugs which connected first time in less than 30 seconds. Unfortunately when I went to to return the Meross plugs I had missed the return date by 2 days! Whilst I am already invested in Meross plugs I will start the process of swapping them out for Tapo plugs which appear more reliable not to mention Tapo also have a UK customer service contact number although I haven't needed to contact them yet. I felt very bad about leaving a negative review, so am compelled to provide an update - after another few weeks I tried to connect the plugs again and to my surprise they just connected first time without any issue! I'm not sure what if anything has changed, but just very happy they are all now working. Upgrading my review to 4 stars.
