Its growth exceeds 5 m (15 ft) You will have a small tree or compact shrub with highly scented flowers 15 feet tall tree in just one year. and attains an average height of 12 m. It grows in full or partial sun, and prefers the acidic soils of its native rain forest habitat. The evergreen leaves are smooth and glossy, oval, pointed and with wavy margins, and 13–20 cm (5–8 in) long. The flower is drooping, long-stalked, with six narrow, greenish-yellow (rarely pink) petals, rather like a sea star in appearance, and yields a highly fragrant essential oil. C. odorata var. fruticosa, dwarf ylang-ylang, grows as small tree or compact shrub with highly scented flowers. Ylang-ylang has been cultivated in temperate climates under conservatory conditions. The fragrance of ylang-ylang is rich and deep with notes of rubber and custard, and bright with hints of jasmine and neroli. The essential oil of the flower is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers and separated into different grades (extra, 1, 2, or 3) according to when the distillates are obtained. The main aromatic components of ylang-ylang oil are benzyl acetate, linalool, and methyl benzoate, responsible for its characteristic odor.[7] The oil from ylang-ylang is widely used in perfumery for oriental or floral themed perfumes. Ylang-ylang blends well with most floral, fruit and wood scents.

Happy gardener
I purchased three trees and received one free. The trees came USPS in a few days and were in excellent shape. Although the leaves had dropped on one tree, no issues with the other three. I followed the easy to understand directions that came along and planted the trees in pots the next day.A week or so later the trees look healthy and leaves are budding on the tree with the dropped leaves.Very happy with the product and recommend the seller. My wife and I are looking forward to the fragrance of our Ylang Ylang trees.

Already dead. Very disappointed.
UPDATE. The plant hasn’t grown at all and is now dead. I believe I paid $30.00 for what is now a dead stick in a pot.I was so excited to get this plant! We have 3 dogs and 2 cats so our backyard can smell terrible at times. The plant arrived healthy. I put it out in the sun in a small container with potting soil (Florida weather), and then when it was showing signs of health, I put it in a medium sized pot, and it has sprouted some new leaves. I am not going to plant it in the ground until it grows to a respectable size. I’ve had the sapling for a few months now. I will update my review and rating when the plant starts to grow bigger. So far I’m very happy!

Looks great!
We recieved the package, yesterday, they looked healthy and in better condition than I expected, we planted them right away, today they still look great so the shock of travel and transplanting has been minimum. So far so good!

Waiting to see if plant will make it.
Plant delivered within 1 week. Root soil moist. Some leaves still on plant and green. Planted right away. It has been two weeks, leaves have been falling off. New ones haven't come out yet. Not sure if plant will make it. The root ball smaller than picture, and not in 'jute' as shown in picture. Also plant not as full grown as shown in picture. If it makes it will update to 5 star

Success w a sometimes tricky species
Purchasing for the first time from a new nursery man, can be a trip into the unknown. With rare plants, one may not have much choice. (BTW, I have never had luck w Ylang seeds.) With this grower, I need not have worried. The plant arrived well packed last June, some leaves were lost, but nothing unusual. I kept it bagged for 24 hrs and then untagged for three days. New plants are very susceptible to any temperature/humidity changes. I potted the plant in a two gallon pot in its mailing plastic bag, watered it in well (Miracle Grow takes time to absorb water, so water for a few days before planting. ) After transplant, I watered in well and afterwards poured diluted "Superthrive". I kept in full shade under larger plants. Watered twice daily. Four months later, I moved it into a protected area in the garden. It now two feet tall.Note: My most recent Ylang grew to 30' within a few years. They do not hold up to winds, especially hurricanes.A fine experience all around. ☆☆☆☆

I ordered two plants and they came with no leaves ...
I ordered two plants and they came with no leaves. A month or so later and they still have not put on any leaves, but I can see by the stem that it is alive.

Healthy, happily sapling!
I know ylang ylang trees don't ship well so I expected a wilted sapling. But my tree came healthy, perky and foliated. Now it is starting to bud new leaves a week after potting. VERY satisfied! Wish I could upload my pictures but the tree looks a lot like the one in the seller image.

I cannot recommend this purchase
This is not an established plant. Seems more like a recent cutting than a nursery quality plant. I've had this plant in dappled shade for less than a week , the soil was moist and watered. It arrived with sparce foliage and never improved.
