The third season of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE is filled with some of the show's most memorable moments. Whether the Ingalls family is caring for Charles's recently widowed father, facing an outbreak of mountain fever, helping a runaway child, or dealing with Laura's mischievous billy goat, they display the kindness, courage and good humor that their fans cherish - in 21 complete and uncut episodes, newely restored and remastered for matchless picture and sound quality. Review: Classic family show - These days, you have to put a little effort into finding family shows, if you do not want to watch a show that is vulgar, or having sexual innuendos. This is the perfect show. Each episode is about an hour long, and pack full of good spirited drama, generally having a good message in the end. It is not a dull show either. My wife and I are enjoying these series! Review: Movie - Love the show

A wonderful family series that is "safe" moral based series that teaches today kids about the hardships of other times
Love that Little house on the Prairie is finally available in the original length and in HD. The other series available on dvd and video was still cut poorly and some episodes had some minor tape/ film damage as if they were not made from the original copies available from the studio. This is a timeless series that even today's kids con enjoy about how a loving family can have a joyful life a midst the trials and tribulations of the mid 1800's Before electronics, modern medicine and many of the things kids think are absolute necessities of everyday life. I was surprised that even my 7 yr old son was interested to see how life was so different and yet so similar in such a different time. I reserved some of the more dramatic episodes dealing with some of the more difficult topics away from him, as he is mildly autistic and very sensitive. I highly recommend this series for all families. You should know if you are not familiar with the series that they family is a part of a Christian community. They sometimes seen in church and do openly speak about God. If that is bothersome to you than you might want to skip this series. On the other hand, even though God is open discussed at times, the show is more about the common moral beliefs of most of the faiths in the US. I remember reading somewhere that Michael Landon, one of the shows main actors, writers and directors was actually Jewish.

Family Movie Night 1
Wow these oldies but goodies programs are just what's needed to slow the pace and have our own home movie night, with big theater screen and movie screen projector. Super for family nights.

Excellent quality...
As many others have, I grew up with this series and I still love watching it. Some might consider it 'out of date' or even corny in some respects, but so much of it still resonates to our lives today. Core family values, and lessons learned about how hard work and perseverance make obtaining those things that we need or want more valuable. I was hesitant to order blu ray, but since I'm in process of buying the series and season 3 was next on my list, I decided to take a chance. I figured I could always donate it and go back to collecting the regular Deluxe Remastered Editions if I didn't like it. There is a world of difference between the blu ray and the DRE disks. The original disks were out of focus and the audio terribly muffled. The remastered are much better, but the blu ray, wow. There are some scenes where the colors are a bit over saturated, and some close ups of the actors are a bit pixelated, but overall the quality is excellent. Considering how the shows were filmed, and how long ago, the blu rays offer excellent quality. As someone else said, Michael Landon would be proud.

Fantastic values combined with outstanding entertainment. Hey what more do you want!
Strong story telling with strong moral values seems to be a dying art. Fortunately, DVDs like this Little House series mean you and your family can enjoy and benefit whenever it's convenient from the great messages and lessons this stellar series provides. Especially if you have children this is a fantastic moral values teaching tool, while being highly entertaining. It's great to be able to pause, and discuss parts. My daughter especially was having me pause more than I was. Michael Landon (God rest his soul) was a genius of a kind. No matter how often these are watched, either old lessons and values are reinforced or new ones are noticed and learned. This great country was founded and grew up on the strong Christian values depicted so eloquently in this Little House series.

"You're such a good friend, Nellie!"
This is the best season of one of my favorite shows of all time, and this gorgeous restored version is a dream come true. Having grown up with only the syndicated versions, this set is a revelation. One huge thing I noticed was in the episode "Bunny" which I have probably watched 50 times over the years. Ma's reaction to Nellie being hurt and Laura's sudden devotion to Nellie is played out beautifully. Laura sold Bunny to Nellie to buy her a stove and you can tell she feels guilty. The truncated episodes never showed that. My favorite guilty pleasure episode is "The Monster of Walnut Grove" and the pace seems perfect and languid and creepy with interactions I have never seen before. I applaud Lionsgate for this set. It's honestly like watching one of my favorite shows for the first time.

If 'Little House On The Prairie's first season was a fine introducton to all the main characters and season two developed their warm chemistry to a greater degree then season three's strength is consolidating those fine earlier efforts into making the characters we all know and love even more heartwarming. There are those familiar themes running through each episode of season three - including family values, hardship, justice, prejudice, equality etc. which, like the first two seasons are told in such a wonderfully effective way. There are episodes dealing with racial prejudice - 'Injun Kid', 'The Wisdom Of Solomon', prejudice in general - 'The Music Box','The Election' and also the hardship of living in those times - 'Quarantine' and the need to find wealth to survive - 'Gold Country'. Not all the episodes are so serious, however. 'The Monster Of Walnut Grove' is hilarious although not for Laura who believes Mr Oleson has cut off his wife's head and 'Fred' which is about a billy goat with an annoying habit! It's this mixture of drama and a touch of comedy which makes 'Little House On The Prairie' such a compelling series to watch and it's also something which seems so hard to find these days. The stories are all incredibly strong and so well acted. There has been quality issues with regard to the first two series DVD's sound/picture quality released in the UK. I'm not quite sure whether the US versions come from the same source but this version of season three is distinctly better - both in picture quality and sound. However, there are times when scenes are cut rather abruptly. Also, two of the episodes are shown in the wrong order - 'The Race' and 'Bunny' which is unfortunate as the stories follow on from each other. Also, any UK resident buying needs a DVD player compatable with the US market to play this DVD. I'd be hard pushed to find another tv series which is so consistently great - 'Little House On The Prairie' is pure quality.
