Engaging, informative, wonderful resource.
I preordered this book for my 8 year old son who has been fascinated with the universe and the complex wonders it holds for a long while. I was so excited and hopeful that it would be engaging for his young age, but also tackle some of those more advanced topics that he has been interested in. The book has met my expectations!I read this book to my son, and I am learning right along with him. The language is engaging for younger people, with humor and well delivered word pictures throughout.I highly recommend this book, with one caveat: the book goes into great detail on the creation of the universe through the Big Bang, and so if your beliefs lead you to a different understanding of the beginning of the universe you will need to be prepared to discuss this with your child.

Perfect book
Easy to read even for an adult who's clueless about this topic.

My 7 yo devoured this book. Turned him into a Niel Degrass Tyson fan.
Niel Degrass Tyson has inspired something in my 7 year old son. It appears to be a love for science and the mysteries of the universe. He devoured this book in several days and has now started reading some of the adult oriented books by Degrass Tyson such as "Death by Black Hole". He is reading them much slower and I am little concerned that "Death by Black Hole" was written for adults but my son is still reading this book and is about 100 pages in. I am surprised he is not getting board with it but more than anything this is a testament to how inspiring Degrass Tyson is as an author and lecturer on science and the fascinating wonders of the universe. I recommend this book to younger children with a remote interest in science and the universe.

Wonderful, engaging introduction to astrophysics
My nine year old cannot put this down - he says astrophysics is his new favorite subject, and I'm thrilled that he finds a fairly obscure and difficult to comprehend topic (for most of us) so engaging - definitely a sign of a job well done on the author's part. The book seems well written, I haven't read it but I did skim through it, and there's plenty of humor thrown in which my son especially appreciates and enjoys reading to me.I'm not crazy about the paperback version - the paper is the plasticky kind that doesn't quite bend how I like pages to bend - but that's just personal preference and my son doesn't care. I'm going to order a hardback copy for his classroom at school.

Love it!
I ordered this book for my daughter who is deeply into astronomy and quantum physics. I thought this would make a great gift, and it did. It’s very nicely written and easy to understand. It helps since there are pictures to help you understand. I definitely would recommend this product for younger kids.

Great for the right kid
If your kid is invested in science, this is a great card. My 8 year old has listened many times and continues to come back to it. I don’t always agree with Neil deGrasse Tyson, but there aren’t too many of his “extra” opinions included here; just the science. I imagine most kids realistically won’t have the desire or attention span, though. It’s still Astrophysics.

Great book for any age
A great book for our 10 yr old grandson. I also look through it and found it interesting for anyone despite their age. He’s really enjoyed it.
