Q: How deep are the shelves? Need to display 2 1/2 inch books.

This is not really for books. It's more for magazines, brochures, pamphlets, zines, etc. The racks are not deep, but fairly narrow from front to back. Also, the rack is very light, so it shouldn't be holding anything too heavy, especially if filling it with multiple publications.

Q: Are the shelves tilted back so that the literature lays back and does not flop forward?

Yes. The shelves are slightly angled back, following the overall angle of the rack. Publications placed in the rack will not flop forward as there is a thin bar which runs across the front of what is placed in the racks.

Q: What is the overall size of this display when it is assembled?

Fully assembled this rack is 54" high, 25" wide and the base is 13". It was easy to put together.
