Great book and historical work with some excellent maps.

As the title said, this is an illustrated book or atlas. But if you flip through the book you will see that it is almost exclusively made with text and maps of battles. For those looking for a book with many illustrations i advise you to contiue to search for a true atlas or illustrated books.

Got the book at affordable price, although it was in some library or something.. but in impeccable condtion..

Both volumes in this series are amazing and provide great campaign maps for their respective periods. This volume is great for someone wanting an easy introduction to Medieval wars or someone in need of maps to better understand other histories of Medieval wars and warfare.

It is as discribed so perfect for me.

I really can't get into this series, but I should be able to. In theory, this should be my ideal history of warfare book, richly illustrated and with many maps (often lacking from military histories). But the text leaves me cold and feeling I'm missing something..
