Better Homes and Gardens: Phase 1 Low-Carb Recipes

Good book
Great book. Easy recipes. Simple recipes. I love how it's all only Phase 1 of Atkins/Keto diet. Everything in there is between 18 and 22 grams of carbs, making it simple to stick to your diet plan.

The 1 cookbook you need if you're doing Atkins!
Seriously - great recipes for phase 1/induction cooking. I never fail to find something great to make when I'm stumped and tired of making my personal repertoire of Atkins friendly dishes. Easy to find ingredients are the hallmark of BH&G cookbooks and this one is no exception. But....that doesn't mean the boring old same old recipes either. And I gotta say - I am SO glad that this low-carb cookbook doesn't try to fool you into thinking that a pancake recipe is going to be low-carb. Most of the low-carb cookbooks I've purchased have a huge section dedicated to desserts or high-carb breakfast dishes - THIS cookbook doesn't try to fool anyone into thinking there can be a French toast recipe that's under 20 carbs per serving - and while that might be low-carb in the world of high-carb - it ain't low enough.

Viva Low Carb Eating and Recipes
Being on a Low Carb eating plan (and loosing 82 lbs in the process) I was looking for new and exciting recipes that I can make in a jiffy, after work, or on the weekends to feed my family and friends. I found this book and it has so many usable recipes in it, I had to just turn the pages like a book, to read and drool. I have made many of these recipes and they have come out great. Usually people who do not eat low carb, turn up their noses thinking that the food will not have a good taste or be just plain weird. It is just getting back to good healthy, fresh foods and meats, that are combined as per the Phase 1 low-carb recipes. I liked this book so much that I have given it as gifts to my sisters and sister in-law. Viva Low-Carb!

Lots of Variety
There is a lot of variety in these recipes. I have tried about 10 or 15 of them and have not been disappointed in any of them. My only complaint is that while they are low in carbs, some of them are kind of high in calories. I know the most important thing for low-carb diets is the carbs (duh!) but I like to keep an eye on calories and fat, too.

Recipes are easy to follow and you don't need to mount a safari to find the ingredients. Found those recipes I tried tasty to boot. Only downside is I didn't like the idea of finding flour on some of the pages in the baking section---even if it was a used book!

Great recipe source to keep meals from being boring!
Great source for recipes when you are limited to what you can eat during this first phase! It has good ideas for keeping the menu varied. I made many of these meals in quantity, and froze them in individual portions, so that I didn't have to cook on nights that I was too busy to think about a meal!

Very Pleasant Surprise
I have used over a dozen of these recipes, and I am very pleased with what I have tasted so far. Even my NOT low carb husband likes them. They are simple to make. Unlike many low carb recipes these recipes use common things you have in you pantry or are available at your regular grocery store. The Chicken in Saffron Cream Sauce is heavenly, the favorite so far and frequently requested by the entire family.
