Virtually every page has information worth the cover price by itself! Sum total: Priceless.
This book had a full sheet of notebook paper torn into little bookmarks for pages I needed to review after parousing it upon arrival.I bought a stack of colored arrow flag stick-its from Amazon, then went thru the book page by page marking everything relevant to me.The book is a quarter of an inch wider now than when delivered, but it'll be on my desk, not the bookshelf for many months, if not years, to come! ๐คI need it at hand to refer to, and I don't need to waste time walking over to the shelf to get my answers. The best compliment I can offer is that I wish the authors were my neighbors, as I would like to say "thank you for the information" to them every morning! Scott & Pat, than you for taking the time to write, then condense, then edit, then release this information! So well written and understandable that even a dullard like myself can gather much needed knowledge from virtually every page! Not a lot of ink was wasted on unnessessary words, and I for one, am relieved for such frugalness of my time and limited memory space!

Good info-poor editing
The book contains a huge amount of information, but though it was updated in 2008 it still seems quite outdated. What really drove me nuts trying to read this were all the editing errors, particularly the wrong or left out words. No, it did not change the content, but leaves me wondering if that is the level of detail paid to the content. Let's be honest, the intro said basically, "nothing has changed since we first wrote the book-look, we can even use our original intro"...cute and entertaining, but also perhaps true...The Good:1) Lots of information.2) Written in a goof-ball friendly manner that is easy to read.3) Does go into some of the business aspects and more advanced topics.4) Good for someone with some experience, looking into expanding into a business (this is not me).5) Forms and paperwork examples are very nice.6) Good overview of all the options out there. The Bad:1) Not much in the way of step by step instruction, and not really good for a real beginner (this is me).2) Outdated processes and material.3) Areas seemed rather self-serving.4) Despite being goof-ball and easy to read, it was not very engaging (read-boring).Overall, I do not recommend for a beginner-I really thought that the Ryonet screen-printing 101 DVD did a much better job of explaining it in a step by step manner. I watched that first, and I am not sure I would have understood the book as well had I not. BUT perhaps that is also why I found it a very dull read-must take into account I watched the video first. These have been my only two resources up to now, other than the massive number of free videos on the internet.

As technical as you need it to be.
Some of the book, I've read on forums and web pages before.Just about everything else I had never read and never even considered. What's the best way to print puff inks so they finish smoothly? Change the dot density? What's dot density? It's covered in the book. In depth. How could I set up a commercial shop? There's a floor plan in here.Plans for a one color machine? Plans for a four color machine? Parts list and plans included as appendices.Information on $50,000 presses? There also. It's all in there and a ton of other stuff I can't even remember at the moment. This book makes me want to buy Post-It flags and a highlighter and go to town.If you want to know about it, it's in there. If you don't want to know about it - like you're not interested - that's in there too and you can go ahead and skip that section and not worry about it.I wish it had a lay-flat spine so you could really open it up and annotate it but I'd hardly consider that a mark against it.It's slightly expensive but once you realize what's inside, totally worth it. And reasonably up-to-date, as far as technologies go.If you're considering buying one book about screen printing, make it this book.

Very Comprehensive Informationโwell worth the price.
I found this book to be very comprehensive for someone considering getting into the business or hobby of screen printing. It is full of information from explaining the process of making screens, to art programs, to how the process works, types of equipment, to new technologies, basics of business, and lots of supplementary material like building a simple screen press from scratch to industry contacts for various goods and services. I was very happy with this purchase.
