This stuff was great!
So I have see all kinds of reviews on this stuff, but I will 100 percent tell you that it worked in my yard, even in the shade. In the picture there is a rectangle of grass and then patches. The lush rectangle is the grotrax and the patches are regular seeding. They were done within a week of each other. It has been 6 weeks. All we did was lay it down and water it 1 time a day. We had a heavy rainstorm about a week after laying it down, that also helped a lot. Use lots of extra water every few days and it grows like crazy. Our yard was completely barren, our soil was mostly sand, and nothing was growing before.

Don't Waste Your Money
It's actually better to just get some seeds and put them down. With this you still have to prepare the soil. It doesn't save you any work. You still have to remove the old dead grass and prepare the soil. So it's not much different than putting down bare seeds. But this is actually worse than raw grass seed because if you use this the seeds aren't worked into the soil so they're much less likely to grow.

Eh
Bought this for a bare spot in my lawn. Very easy to put down. I used a couple inches of top soil first. It started to grow, then just up and died. I followed instructions to the letter. Not worth it!

I had good results.
Came in the mail quickly and was rolled up in a nice package. I laid the roll down on an area in my back yard and also laid out some seed from the local Home Depot about 3 weeks ago. The Patch N Repair has an obvious head start compared to the regular seed. So far I am happy with this product. My only problem is the fact that I cant keep my dogs from playing on my newly planted seed :(

Pleasantly surprised!
I actually was not expecting this to work so I bought the smallest roll in order to waste the least amount of money. There isn't a whole lot of this on a small roll, but it's great for a trial run. I put some good soil down first, laid this stuff out, and then watered it two or three times a day for a week, and lo and behold I actually have green grass where I've tried forever to get grass seed to grow. I think the trick is watering a few times a day. We had days in the 90's right after I laid this out, plus I sort of mutilated it by having the water pressure too high for the first watering ( a mist or light sprinkle is better), but still this stuff persevered. Like I said, I am as surprised as anyone else, but it actually worked for me. May buy some more for another area, but need to get more dirt first because having some good top soil may make a difference as well.

Very disappointed. Very little grass grew.
After laying it, it took 3-4 weeks to sprout. It didn’t even sprout evenly. I put some grass seed next to it. That grew in a little over a week as it advertised. It also grew thicker than this mat like thing.

ZERO germination, FAULTY PRODUCT. 50% of reviewers got NO grass.
I purchaser 2 lawn patching products and laid side by side, The 2 products were "Patch N Repair" and "EZ Straw". Both products were watered by auto misting sprays. No germination whatsoever with "Patch N Repair" while "EZ Straw" is growing well after 3 weeks. I laid 50 square feet of "Patch N Repair" not 1 seed germinated while all areas of "EZ Straw" did well. Either the growing conditions required for "Patch N Repair" are so precise it only grows in idyllic conditions or it is a faulty product which make it useless for general lawn patching. I would have thought there would be at least a square inch that germinated at least but it failed 100%.

Easy to use and it really works!
I don't write many reviews but had to write one for this product. I had bare spots along my flower bed border. I had planted grass seed but for some reason it didn't grow. I thought I would give this a try and am so happy I did. It is easy to use; just lay it down and water it. I have a sprinkling system that runs 4 days a week so it received watering on those mornings. Within two weeks I had grass. After three weeks the grass is 3 inches long. I am so pleased.
