First Aid for the USMLE Step 2 CK, Tenth Edition

Great overall book for quick reading and generalized concepts
I legit bought all the top books for CK study prep (e.g. FA, MTB, Step Up, Secrets) and I don't know why I convinced myself I would be able to read them all or at least find one to stick to. I was always going back and forth between FA/MTB/SU to see which I might use as the 'sole' book for CK study. In the end, now that I've finished CK and am happy with my score, I can honestly say I loved FA CK because it's super easy to read, not jam-packed with nitty-gritty detailed information, and has a decent layout of the concepts/information. It's a book I found myself reading at the end of a study day, as I'm winding down, before bed, just wanting to review systems.I used SU to Medicine heavily for the first half of the study prep since it's jam-packed with details of stuff you don't necessarily need for CK. Although I loved the information and all the detailed information, there was no way I memorized all that nitty-gritty enough to regurgitate it back to you and it wasn't always needed to answer these UW questions. It was good to read for that knowledge base but not one of those books you can quickly read and browse through. Def recommend that book to get baseline knowledge but FA CK would be my go-to for leisure reading to kinda bring all the concepts together and not be overwhelmed.I found myself almost forcing myself to read MTB since I wanted to get my money's worth but in my opinion and in the way I study, it was not for me. It's layout is different and method of teaching is different than what I am comfortable with.FA CK gives it to you straightforward: Name of Dz, a little pathophys, presentation, treatment, complications. bam. easy. next.SU to Med def does similar format but way more detail that sometimes you just get lost and not really productive.Good luck everyone and hope y'all do well

Great review book
So far I have been pretty impressed with this book. The format is nice in that for each disease it lists a small explanation of patho/phys, then proceeds with history/presentation, diagnostic tools and treatment/management. I have been using it along with UWorld and so far it has had most of the information to answer the questions. In fact, some of the diseases seem to have very very similar verbage to the explanations in UWorld, which makes me wonder if the writers got smart and started using UWorld to help organize the information in First Aid.My only complaint would be that the actual text in the book is quite large, and there is not much free space to take notes on the pages. For the next edition, I would suggest making the font size smaller to give more room to take notes on each page (like First Aid for Step 1).Also, I ordered mine from Amazon prime and did not have any issues with the printing of the pages like some others have mentioned.

Good organization. Helps to compartmentalize info
I've spent over a week with this book, and so far I like it. It's well organized and goes into a good amount of detail for most of the high yield topics that will be tested on Step CK. Ya it may not be as perfect as First Aid for Step 1, but as far as the resources out there go, this one is pretty easy to get used to. The book also contains some mnemonics, key facts, and even short questions in the side columns (where you can also write notes). The book also has a lot of tables that compare and contrast similar disease processes. Overall, I think it is a solid resource to use throughout 3rd year.

Above average CK prep resource
Above average CK prep resource. Less on point than the equivalent FA book for Step 1, though no single reference book for CK prep was notably better than another. Pair it with a Qbank as usual, and make sure you get through them both. The questions/cases in the margins should not be overlooked. Worth it if it’s been a while since you did Step 1 prep and have the money to spend.

Great resource for PANCE, didactic and clinical PA school - high yield stuff only, no fine details
Was told this was a great board prep and EOR studying tool, and I absolutely agree. I even found it useful during my didactic year. Several PAs who have taken PANRE say this is all they use to recertify for boards bc it gives the need-to-know info and excludes irrelevant details like other books. Great illustrations, charts, and lots of helpful mnemonics.

Much more written to the style of ck questions. Like UWQB.
I think FA for CK really stepped it up a notch for this version.Let me be very specific. They give first best workup, most accurate workup. Has few of the multitude of errors found in MTB2. Many of the topics in UWQbank were actually nicely reviewed in this book, I was shocked! Impressed to see the first aid ck take a huge step forward. I have friends who read MTB2/3 together to try to maximize Step2 score. This book has the equivalent of both.
