A good introduction to a scary subject
One in every 25 people, 4% of the population, is a sociopath; a class of people who lack any human compassion, ability to love, or sense of responsibility for other people. Sociopaths are dangerous people, not just the serial killers popularized by TV and movies, but people who can disrupt lives and create torment for those around them.Clinical psychologist Martha Stout’s book, The Sociopath Next Door, is a guide to recognizing the behaviors of sociopaths to help readers understand this little understood condition.Key Takeaways, Review & Analysis of Martha Stout’s The Sociopath Next Door by Instaread is an excellent introduction to Stout’s work, which by itself is a useful guide to recognizing the toxic impact of sociopathic personalities and how to protect oneself against them. This guide will make you want to read the full work. I received a free copy of the Instaread book in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is a Must Purchase!
Except for the emotional pain caused by the study of this information, I must report that this is a well-constructed summary. It is not as a criticism that I add, the original source should be read as well. This literature allows the reader to take on the armor of this knowledge. Here is real protection! Because we are duped by media and "common knowledge" to think that others surely feel as we do that snakes like this gleefully perpetuate harm to others. That harm may be for profit, self-aggrandizement, or malevolent fun. Recommended!

Excellent summary -- quite interesting!
With the news these days, sometimes I wonder why some people do the things that they do. This Summary and Analysis of The Sociopath Next Door gave me some insights by explaining how Martha Stout describes sociopaths. I thought that this was a great read. It took me about 25 minutes, and gave me all the most important points of Martha Stout's book -- but at a fraction of the time. And for a book like this, where I'm mainly going to be looking for key information, not for a well-developed storyline or wonderful writing, I must prefer to read a summary. I recommend this! Right to the Point
This book, in its crisp, readable fashion, makes clear large concepts without reducing them by over-simplification. The reader is able to achieve a working, base-knowledge of the topic without plowing through a lengthy, and sometimes ponderous, text. Most refreshing in its presentation of key points.

A very clear and well written book by a psychologist who 'knows her stuff' and a book based on long years of clinical experience and insight. She says it like it is which is courageous on this difficult and often misunderstood subject. An excellent, useful and productive read!
