E.S.T.A.O.K.
I have several E.S.T. albums, and all of them have their own character and story to tell from the melancholy '7 days' to the cataclysmic Leucocyte. An incredible feat considering the sheer amount they have put out. Top drawer modern jazz, that keeps reinventing itself, yet also has a distinct flavour behind it. For a piano trio, the sound palette is huge, and not at all forced, from the subtle piano treatments, playing inside the piano, and the melodic solos on treated and bowed double bass which sounds like nothing else. This band sets a benchmark.

Sublime
What a wonderful treat for the ears. Hadn't even heard of EST until recently. The track 'Believe, Beleft, Below' in particular is just beautiful; tinged with sadness but uplifting too. Don't be put off if you think you don't like jazz - this is something else; a fusion of styles that is unique and works really well. Haven't stopped playing this CD. It can give you an 'earworm' though!!

My favourite CD
Having never heard of E.S.T until a few months ago I decided due to hearing 1 track on the radio to find out where it came from and what a revelation. It is brilliant apart from the final track on which they add vocals. But don't be put off, I play it repeatedly and I am not a jazz fan.

Great stuff
D’you know I don’t like jazz, but this is exceptional. Transcends all music genres.

Seven Days of falling
This is the first album I listened to from EST having previously being introduced to Scandinavian Jazz through the likes of Tord Gustavsen. The music is slightly different, pacier, how Radiohead might sound if they'd been a jazz trio and, on the whole, a delight. I will be exploring their other work next.

Deserved better production.
What would otherwise be a memorable album worth continued revisiting is marred by a poor recording effort on some tracks. Distortion and electronic buzzing and sometimes flat and lethargic dynamics make me struggle to enjoy this. It makes me wonder if this is the original recording or if it's some kind of bootleg. A re-engineered version would be a worthy thing, unless it's beyond that.
