Real-world review, with TIPS!
You've probably skimmed through the other reviews about quality control and assembly, so I'll advance to the giving ANSWERS to the questions I had before purchasing, and TIPS to making this a fantastic pot on brew day! OVERALL - looks like i got a good one, and it's performed nicely for 1 brew so far. Item is shipped in manufacturers box (too bad no Amazon option to box the box), and it's packaging is lacking on the side walls, which is why people have dents. Welds are solid, lid fits snug, and parts are machined very well w/ very little particles left over. Instructions ARE lack luster, and could use more illustrations, but hopefully if you've read this far, you'll get to the good stuff...now! ASSEMBLY - Requires you to put on thermometer and valve, and comes w/ two open ended wrenches to do so. You NEED TO TAKE APART ALL PIECES FIRST (see 2nd pic). They package the valve w/ the threaded male coupler inside the vavle - take it out. Reassemble using the instruction's illustration. TIP: the threaded male coupler has two different sides, so if it's not threading properly, turn it around. Assemble it from inside the pot, moving out (YES, i know you wanna put it all together, and then stick it on the pot- DON'T). Go piece by piece, inside to out. There's plenty of pipe tape to go around (I was able to do this, tape in/out of a pump, 4 more in/outs of a heat exchanger, and 3 sets of threads for a barb at the end of the valve - so plenty). No need for 10 wraps. Just need 2-3 wraps if done properly. POT PREP - While it's well made, it still has a few short comings like the bottom - it's rough (3rd pic). So don't go dragging that thing all over your countertops or glass induction top! Use a metal scrubby to take down/off all the excess metal filings, bumps, etc. TIP: Use a toothbrush to help clean the parts. After thoroughly washing, make sure the valve is closed, fill, heat, and test for leaks. ADDITIONAL PARTS - If you didn't get the one w/ bazooka, no worries, just get your own. All fitings are a standard 1/2" NPT size. FEMALE on valve outlet, and MALE on inside of pot. Consider this when getting your bazooka (see pic 4), or barb end (pic 5). Inside the pot, there's only just over 9" of clearance between the male thread of the valve inlet to the opposite wall of the pot. This means you CAN'T fit a 12" bazooka (and who wants to mess w/ just a 6"'). If you get a 12", you can simply trim, and use pliers to refold the open end. Leave yourself clearance so it can be installed/removed for cleaning. RANDOM COMMENTS - Wall thickness, while on the thin side, helps w/ weight, heating/cooling speed. It's sturdy enough to do what it needs to do when full. Volume markings are in gallons only, note every 1/4 gallon, and embossed into the pot. I did the math already - there's more value in getting this pot over making your own. I'm all for DIY, but consider that stainless is tough, the holes need to be precise, and the time...just start brewing already!

Works enough for me.
Update to 5 star now. I dont care when was the last review but after using it 10 or 15 time I do not see any issue at all. Been using it for 8gal start and over and over again without gasket issue, handle issue, termometer issue not any issue. Overall Im happy and decided to give 5 star because for the price, it holds and will probably hold forever. Thanks to GAS ONE.It's working as intended however if you are looking for quality, trust what everyone stated! Poor weld and truly visible from the inside. I hope it will not puncture at some sooner point. I intend to use this for longer than expected. Additionally be careful moving it around since the valve does not really hold strong in the kettle wall. Reasonable price but that's the downside, as stated.

Good, functional brew kettle
I haven't boiled a batch with this kettle yet, but I have it set up and ready. First impression is that the steel is a little thin, especially at the bottom where the valve attaches. When turning the handle on the ball valve you're tempted to use two hands because the kettle gives and flexes a little at the base of the valve and it feels like you're going to bend the kettle. That could be partly because the ball valve is new and very tight. The ball valve and thermometer seem to be very good quality. The ball valve feels super tight, well-made and pretty much bomb-proof. The thermometer is accurate within one degree out of the box when tested against two other good thermometers. It is adjustable if you need to fine tune it, via a screw on the back of the display housing. The kettle is supposed to arrive with four red, silicone o-rings, two for the valve, two for the thermometer. Mine only came with three, so I wasn't able to install the thermometer right away. An email to the seller had two more o-rings on the way the next day. Good customer service there, and I was happy. I'm just getting into home brewing, and I plan and hope to be doing it for a long time. This kettle is going to work great to get me up and running. It looks great, and the tri-layered bottom looks perfect. I can see myself upgrading to something more expensive and more heavy-duty in the future (there are a lot of kettles out there, some are five or six times the price of this one), but this kettle should be good for dozens of five-gallon batches without a problem. I'm happy with this purchase and I'm happy with the customer service provided over the one missing o-ring. If you're getting into home brewing, I'm going to say this is the kettle to buy. I also ordered the Gas-One propane burner upon which to impart heat to the kettle, and thereby, the wort. The burner is also a solid product, very strong and well-built, and should handle boiling many batches of wort. "Brewers make wort, yeast makes beer". Happy brewing!

Great kettle!!
Received this as a Christmas gift last year. This item has been phenomenal for brewing 5 gallon batches of beer. I use mine on the 200k btu gas one outdoor burner in my garage. Heats up really fast. Plenty of room for volume. Thermometer is pretty accurate as long as I stir occasionally. I mostly biab with a hops spider and still use a 6” bazooka screen and a strainer before transferring into my fermenter. My only complaint is I wish I would’ve spent the extra money on the 16 gallon. I’m strongly considering getting that one as well and using this one as my HLT. This has been a game changer for my brew days. Very highly recommend.

I make 5 gallon batches of all grain beer and this is the only kettle I would use, priced right and as good as it gets.
