Dirty Harry (4K Ultra HD + Digital)

Don Siegel’s best Eastwood film. “Dirty Harry” arrived in the wake of films like “The French Connection” with an anti-hero at the center of the action. While it was in production at the same time as “The French Connection”, it was part of a movement about antiheroes at the time.Performances are uniformly excellent especially from Andrew Robinson a terrific and underrated actor who would be recognized later for his skills as an actor.Inspired by the Zodiac murders, Harry Fink’s script focuses on Harry Callahan (Eastwood) an unconventional San Francisco cop that continually breaks or bends rules to enforce the law.The film was criticized at the time for its violence but the quality of the filmmaking stands above the simple conventions of exploitation films at the time.The reissue looks exceptional probably the best it ever has. Colors and shading benefit from the HDR pass. The fresh scan stands out because of the fine detail which is exceptional for a 1971 film with the stocks at the time.Audio sounds quite good with a lossless presentation.Special features include the previous commentary plus two new featurettes. There’s also the “American Masters” documentary included as well as an 8nterciew gallery and another hour documentary on Eastwood.Highly recommended.

The 4k transfer of this film was fantastic. Classic film with a great picture!!!! Highly recommend.

New 2025 steel book 4 K. This is the 4k release of the year so far in 2025. Period. Incredible image and the soundtrack track feels much more alive. If Eastwood does this good with the rest of the Harry movies, we are in for a string of great re-issues.

This is by far the best 4K movie of 2025, so far. The 8k scan of the original film really shines on this one. The biggest surprise for me was the audio, which was remastered. It is loud and clean. Dialogue is exceptional. I never appreciated the Dolby Atmos on a movie until now. The steel case is cool also.As far as the movie, it’s probably the best cop action movie of the seventies.If you collect 4k movies and like Dirty Harry, this is an absolute must buy. You can get the cheaper standard case version for a little less money.

One star because too many orders are coming damaged and late. How did I know this one was going to come damaged? I really like this steelbook and paid extra for it so I'm going to have to send it to try to obtain an undamaged case. Come on Amazon, let's get it together as far as the movie it's goes. the 4K video and audio is up there with the best I've seen yet

For the most part, an incredible 4K presentation. Clint going head to head with the fictional nod to the Zodiac killer is a 70s big city detective masterpiece!

My first watch of the new release of Dirty Harry on a 4K disc. The case does not come with a blu ray but I have had this movie in all its configurations. I don't know why, but almost all the Clint Eastwood spaghetti Westerns and Dirty Harry cop films were simply of terrible quality in their DVD and Blu-ray releases. They were all smothered in white drop outs, hairs, stair stepping and unreal amounts of distracting grain.Like the 4K release of The Outlaw Josie Wales, the new release of Dirty Harry is a monstrous step up in quality. Brilliant bright color, and super clean imaging throughout with great saturation and contrast. The ATMOS audio is shy most of the time but does come alive on many scenes. This is what we should expect for all 4K releases, a true remastering of the video and a real remastering of the audio instead of a simple carry over of the blu ray audio. Now I look forward to the other Eastwood 4K releases. Highly recommended.

"dirty harry": 4k uhd: I BOUGHT THIS LAST NIGHT, BUT HAVE NOT OPENED THIS UP YET. GOT THE STEELBOOK FOR $30 DOLLARS. I ALREADY OWNED THE MOVIE ON LASERDISC AND ON DVD (AND I THINK ON BLURAY). BUT I WANTED THIS FILM IN ATMOS SOUND AND IN 4K AS WILL BE CLEARER-SHARPER-COLORFUL. LOVE THIS EXCELLENT MOVIE, PLUS IS A CLASSIC.
