Enjoyable even without gunsmithing
If you're a fan of S&W revolvers, you'll find this a great source of information even if you never even remove the grips. If you do any kind of work or just tinkering with S&W wheel guns, then this is a must. It's packed with photos and drawings showing how to do things - not just an exploded drawing or two. I've also got the 1911 version of this book, and it's just as good for 1911 fans.

Contains an incredible amount of information!
I found the numerous photos and diagrams vital in repairing one of my Smith and Wesson revolvers. It seemed that the pertinent information was located in the section of the book I was referencing.

The definitive work.
I know of no better manual for mechanically minded people wanting to work on their own revolvers. Too many books gloss over the important details, but this one gets down to the kind of intricate technical knowledge you need to get good at repair and upgrade of Smith and Wesson revolvers. Should be on the shelf of anyone who aspires to doing gunsmith work on these fine weapons.

A professionally written manual
This book is a great source of information. Illustrations, diagrams, and descriptions are excellently done. I feel that if you want an “encyclopedia” on the evolution, design, and repair of S&W revolvers - this is the one.

Excellent for the gunsmith or anyone who wants a close look at these guns
This is a very detailed and interesting treatment of the mechanics of these revolvers. I'm not much of a shooter, but I'm interested in well-made metal mechanical things of many sorts, and I enjoyed skipping through this book getting a better working understanding of S&W revolvers. I will say that if you don't have a great interest in what makes mechanical things tick--or in this case go bang, you will probably not get much out of this book. But if you do any gunsmithing or just want to understand what a gunsmith does when these firearms are serviced or worked on, this book is outstanding and highly recommended.
