I loved this thing until it failed.
The media could not be loaded. I bought this in September of 2018. I waited to write my review to see what other people have been experiencing with it to help gauge how I would write my review. So here goes...I REALLY loved this gimbal right up until the morning that it failed. To preface the failure story, in the first 2 days of testing out the gimbal, one of the little plastic covers came off (see pics) and I noticed that it had actually broken. Not sure if it's a design flaw or a bad part, however, it did make me concerned about the unit's "splash-proof" capabilities. I reached out to the seller and they suggested I send the unit to California for repair, which I declined because it would have taken a while and my adventure trip was on the horizon. The morning of the big day that I actually bought it for. I had an amazing, week-long fishing trip to Colorado planned and bought this gimbal for my GoPro 5 to take videos of hiking, climbing, and fly fishing. I had used it a handful of times leading up to the trip in preparation for it. Learning its functions and features...putting it through its paces with the mobile and GoPro apps. All worked really well and I was VERY impressed with all of its features and how smooth the video turned out. The only disappointment was the motor noise in the video, but I got a shotgun mic that helped a great deal with that. The night before the first day of adventure in Colorado I had it all set up, balanced and charged up and ready to go. All worked perfectly. The morning of, 5am...packed all the gear, grabbed the gimbal jumped in the car and off we go. On the road, I grabbed the gimbal and powered it on so I can film some of the scenery and the drive to the location. I powered it on and it immediately starts to spin on the pan axis at full speed...almost violently. I reacted to stop it and then powered it off quickly. Thinking it was very odd and hopefully a random occurrence, I powered it back on and the same thing occurred. I spent the next 30 minutes trying everything I can think of to troubleshoot it. I had the manual on my phone so I went through that. Pulled the battery for 2 minutes, initialized it...3 times, took the camera off and put it back on and balanced it again...all with the same result...spinning at full speed on power up.I decided to carry it with me for the day and try it randomly to see if it would work...maybe get a bit of usable footage so the day wasn't entirely wasted. Unfortunately, it never started working correctly, even after trying the troubleshooting steps over the next few days, spending hours messing with it again, trying everything to get it working so it was usable on my trip. Nothing worked. I ended up filming all the footage that week without the gimbal and lugged it around Colorado for a week for nothing.Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed and returned the gimbal. I was going to go for a replacement but decided against it and would wait for a while and see if others had seen the same issue or if it was just an unlucky occurrence on the one I received. All in all, it's a great piece of tech for filming, I think I just got unlucky with my unit. It's very sturdy but heavy. I think filming for a long period would be tough. The battery life was excellent in my testing before it failed. I didn't get to test the splash-proof feature as I didn't get to film our fishing adventures, so I can't comment on that aspect. The tripod stand it came with is excellent. Overall fit and finish was good, except for the broken plastic panel. Hopefully, they redesign that for a new model. I tested it with my cell phone, my GoPro Hero 5 and my digital point and shoot. All worked and shot excellent, smooth video....before it failed. So, as I said, I really wanted to love this thing...and kind of still do, but since it failed me when I wanted it the most, I have to rate it 3 stars. 3 because it was great, but for me, it failed, however, it doesn't seem like the issue I experience has been happening to others, so I think I just got a bad unit. Good luck with yours, happy filming!

Action camera and Mobil phone gimball
I was looking for something that could handle the hero 6 black and my iPhone 6 Plus. When I’m in a party or social function it’s easy to share with someone and have them record their own shake free video. Having the hero 6 black is great but the battery makes it difficult to capture video from a random group of friends. Plus I’m not editing and sending videos to tons of people anymore. They can create their own.The reason I chose this gimball is as follows:1. Splash proof - I can use it on my mountain bike or motorcycle and not worry about getting it wet.2. The quality of this thing is awesome. The battery life is about eight hours which makes it easy to create great videos without having to constantly recharge.3 . It has two 1/4 connectors which makes it easy to attach to anything. On my motorcycle I use an extra wire to hold it in case the clamp fails and detaches while riding.4. The zoom knob for the iPhone using the Vicool app works great. Gives you manual control of all the settings and allows you to create great looking videos.5. The gimbal control app works great when you have it paired with a hero 6 black using WiFi. I mount my phone on my dash in my motorcycle and I attach the gimball with the hero on the right saddlebag. I can point and control the camera using my phone. It’s awesome.I’ll be adding photos and videos when I return from my business trip next week.

GREAT
I can not connect the camera to the gimbal so I have to press the button on the camera it makes it move some other then that great Gimbelcalled Amazon they tried to get the company Chinese but they and I could not get a hold of anyoneupdate: 5/9/2019The company FY FEIYUTECH Feiyu G6 Plus 3-Axis , must have seen my 4 stars on Amazon and emailed me and trying to help me out with the camera not being able to connect. They emailed me to try some things out and they did not work. They said to send pictures, I sent them, a lot of pictures and screenshots of the Gimbel, the camera, and my phone. Mine is a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and they emailed me back and said thanks for the pictures. And gave me more instructions. They said "Enter Ctrl w/ smartphone and then select the second icon to connect" on my SONY MARK 100 M6. I did that and on my phone, it showed a QR code and it said "hit the trash button for a password" on the screen, I didn't see that before. On my smartphone, the wifi connection to my camera showed up as "DIRECT-WyC3:D" this was it I thought let e try it and that password worked. The phone to the camera to the Gimbel worked. Meaning all 3 had to be connected. This means when you try to zoom is it very glitchy. But the connection tot he record button for video worked, but it disconnects sporadically. I still give it 5 stars rating.

Good gimbal for mirrorless cameras- maybe, not so good for GoPro's or Smartphones
I replaced the EVO Shift gimbal for Smart phones with this one because I wanted a device that was more versatile - one that would work well with both action cams and smartphones. Seemed like a great purchase. However, since the first use after proper balancing and following the instructional videos on YouTube, all I experienced was a bad vibration that occurred with both my GoPro and Iphone 8+. I contacted customer support and they quickly responded. Their technicians advised me to change the mounting position of the GoPro closer to the gimbal motor. That took the vibration away for about a day and the sound of the gimbal motors became more noticeable. I've used this gimbal since August 2018 and have had maybe 3 instances where there were no vibrations. I'm pleased with customer support but not this product.
