Cool Salsa: Bilingual Poems on Growing Up Latino in the United States (Spanish Edition)

Beginning Spanish speaker who loves poetry. I bought this to see how well I could read in Spanish, and it was lots of fun reading the bright poems in both languages and seeing the difference in how things are phrased.

I love this little book of Spanish and English poems that so well captures the experience of growing up bilingual and / or as an immigrant in the United States. Although that is not my personal experience, I have been an ESL teacher for 25 years, and Spanish is my second language. I have watched many students from a wide variety of first languages and cultures go through experiences similar to those expressed in the poetry. I think this inexpensive book is a great addition to the study of poetry in ESL, bilingual, or literature classes, and can inspire bilingual / bicultural students to express their own feelings and experiences in poetry.

I love the book. It helping me learn Spanish as a second language. There is no dislike. It's helping me expand my language.

We have an Access and Diversity group and safe space at school where there are DVDs and books available for viewing and sharing. This was a great addition to the library. Thank you!

I did not get this for my self but for a school for underprivileged children that had only 2 books in their library.

I appreciate the side by side of Eng & Spanish for my studies as well as the authenticity of voice/s.

Great lil poetry book to reas to your older kids.

Purchased this book as a supplement for my Spanish class and my students loved the poems. They all felt like they identified with the different poems and get to see a different perspective of others growing up in the US.
