Guajillo Chile Powder 1.5 oz - All Natural Great For Mexican Recipes by Ole Rico

When I order something like SPICES online, it is very hard to imagine what 1.5 ounces LOOKS like, but after spending $6 for this item, I felt embarrassed when I opened the package and saw how very little was contained. I - was expecting quite a bit more than this - at LEAST enough to fill a spice jar, which this does not. This MIGHT be enough for ONE recipe - but who buys spices for one dinner? If you can't tell from my photo, the package is very FLAT. There may be, at most, 4 tablespoons in this little packet. What can I do with THAT?From my understanding, this is not a particularly RARE type of chile. It is one of the ingredients for some taco seasoning that is recommended by a cook I follow on YouTube. It's a nice lady who cooks a lot for her family and started a YouTube channel because her friends and family love her cooking so much. She is not what you would call a "gourmet" cook, and I doubt seriously that she would pay $6 for this tiny little amount.There is a store in my neighborhood that sells mostly the ingredients for Mexican food. Even though it is dangerous to shop "in person" I may just get my ingredients from THEM rather than Amazon, from now on.

The powder seems to be ok to cut down prep time when making birra or chili oil. However, I purchased from another company and the powder was of a darker red and the flavor profile was better. In my opinion, this will do.

Remember that this is powdered dried Guajillo Chili Powder. If you made it yourself it would likely cost more and be much more effort. I bout it and was a little surprised by how small the package was but the flavor is BIG. I got more than three meals out of it and I was generous in my seasoning. It is perfect for making my favorite Chili Colorado recipe I saw on YouTube (Views on The Road). I will be buying more every two weeks!

Made Birria tacos and this powdered chile made it so much easier. It added great flavor and the perfect amount of heat. Not too spicy and very delicious.

Packaged chile is easier to use.

I ordered Guajillo Chile Powder for a new recipe. We used it in a rub for smoked wings. Very Good! Will also use it in an enchilada recipe.Thanks for a great product!

Sorry I can't review because I only received an empty package. I have heard very good things about this particular kind of chili powder and was excited to use it. I'll buy it somewhere else.

I have not had occasion to use this Guajillo Chile Powder yet, but it smells delicious, and a tiny little taste on the tip of my finger convinced me it was fresh and flavorful. I can't wait to try it.
