Great story
Marshall, though I knew him by another given name, was a friend and associate of mine. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. One would not suspect his combat experience from his personality, and that he could be such a fantastic storyteller. Truly a great read.

Cadillac Flight is another excellent novel by Marshall Harrison
Cadillac Flight is another excellent novel by Marshall Harrison, this time about jet fighter pilots based in Thailand and flying missions over North Vietnam and Laos. Again, Mr. Harrison takes the reader right into the cockpit, to experience the difficulties of formation flying, air-to-air refueling, and making bombing runs over heavilly-defended enemy territory. You feel every "G". These pilots lived in much greater comfort than the FACs in Vietnam, but still primitive by civilian US standards. A great read with a twist at the end.

Book was in excellent condition.
Bought the book for my husband who is retired military. He loves the book, laughs at a lot of the realistic personalities and hijinx. Book was in excellent condition.

Vietnam air war
This is one of the best novels regarding the vietnam air war that I have ever read. It is realistic, written by a person who has been there. I have read and enjoyed all the books written by Harrison. It is a shame that he is gone now.

There are many little problems like this, such as the flight going to route ...
Overall a neat and enjoyable book. Although lots of action by someone who was there, Harrison takes some literary license to, I guess, make the book more colorful to the unwashed masses. I had to grimace as I waded thru some of those radio calls that the combat pilots would never have made. (I have two SEA combat tours.) And Atolls, a heat seeking missile, will not see and lock on to a target if fired in the soup, as the Viet ace does. There are many little problems like this, such as the flight going to route pack one from Takhli but, somehow, flying way north over the PDJ in northern Laos on the way to the southern part of North Vietnam. I liked his cast of characters and the reader definitely gets a feel for what it was like flying over North Vietnam.

One Of The Best Books Over North Viet Nam
It may be a novel but it reads as a real book for the Air Force over North Viet Nam.

A Novel - But The Truth
I would have liked to have met Mr. Harrison as his books are always realistic and have the background of brave and efficient fighting men having to cope with incompetence higher up. If you haven't read it, get "A Lonely Kind of War" by him
