works well and dispenses well
I don't know how good a powder sunscreen is on it's own, but I love them as an additional layer of sunscreen and a way to set makeup, if I'm wearing it. I've tried a couple of other mineral powder sunscreens and one of the problems has been getting it to dispense well. Well, this one has a good open/closed marker and when it is open, yep it dispenses, in fact a bit too much with my first vigorous shake, so now I know I can be a bit gentler with this. I wear it on top of a bb cream that has spf in it too. I also have a lot of a tattoos and if I forget to put sunscreen on my arms or hands, this is easy to carry around and not messy, so I sometimes brush some over my tattoos too. It's a small, think container, so probably won't last forever, but works well enough for my purposes. Oh, and I'm olive skinned/tanned looking (though that's just my normal color) and this isn't too light--it's nicely sheer.

Great product. Been using it for 5 years & it’s cheaper than buying from Costco!
I live in Hawaii with strong sunlight. I layer this on top of my liquid sunscreen. I don’t get sunburned on my face anymore.

Perfect except in water
The easiest possible application, you can’t feel it at all once it’s on. I’ve forgotten to wash it off before because you truly have no idea it’s there but it protects you, at least to a point. I used it at the pool, was there for 2 hrs, applied and re-applied after 1hr, also took breaks in the shade and I am cooked. I used it on my shoulders, chest and back and all those places are so bright red they’ll probably peel. Amazing for daily use, perfect product for sensory issues, never gets in my eyes, effortless application and no greasy hands afterwards. Just be wary in the water, the UV index was high but with 2 applications I should definitely not be this burnt.

Cheaper and seems to be as effective as Colourscience's original transparent.
I'm red headed and have very fair skin that likes to tan into various shades of lobster dinner. I used Colourscience's brush-on sunscreen when I was in Iraq. It was super handy, had many men borrow it from me, and protected my skin well and was more portable in my pockets than liquid sunscreen. I also liked that I could easily apply it to my ears, scalp, hands, etc. So, I decided I needed a new one for my upcoming trip to the Caribbean, and I was sticker shocked. $50 for a new tube! I got the last one for $25 from some boutique. This brand was suggested by amazon. I went and compared the ingredients... they are.. Similar. Not exact. But pretty close. This one advertises being water resistant but doesn't seem to put much sweat/water resistant advertising in like colourscience does. I think in reality you really need to carry this with out and reapply it often because it is a powder setting on the face versus a liquid. With that said.. I didn't get sunburned much in Iraq. And with me biking around town lately training in the sun, I haven't gotten any sunburns with this either. Reapplying every 30 minutes or so. The ultimate test will be when I'm out and about in that Caribbean sun, sweating and touring for 2 weeks, and I'll update at that time. If it will do well with that, I'd say it is definitely worth the savings. Both give a poofy "powder" spray if you flick them with some effort across your head. The Colourscience container is thicker, and it tends to have a better mechanism for the little plastic piece that covers the brush when done. In the Colourscience one, this 'activates' the brush, meaning it will only start working when you click it down into place. (This may have changed since the last time I bought it though.) On this one, it doesn't seem to matter, nor does it click smoothly into place... it more just sort of rubs against the edges and 'stops'. Still, the amount of product coming out seems sufficient on both brushes. I'm liking the results I'm getting so far with this, and have used it daily since it arrived to help protect my skin.

The tan shade is deep
The powder does not dry out the skin and that is a good quality of it, but the tan shade is deep.

Finally! A no mess, low allergen, and grease free sunscreen
I was skeptical about the coverage of this product, but I have been using it every single day since it arrived and have yet to get sunburnt even though I spend upwards of 6 hours a day in the sun during the work week. I have also tested it on the weekend in instances where I would normally wear some sort of cream sunscreen on my face, but this seems to work just as well. For folks having concerns about coverage issue, I understand. I have been applying it by going in many circles over my face and seem to be successful with no problems. I have extremely sensitive skin along with a number of allergies and this is the first sunscreen ever that doesn't seem to break my face out at all. This will now be my go-to sunscreen for my face!

Great idea - very poor design
I bought this product to use both on myself and my toddler. I loved the idea of the ease of it and thought it would be easier to brush my two year old's face than it is to try and slather with thick lotion. The fact that it's also quite compact was a selling point to me, as I could easily slip it in my diaper bag, regular purse, or even a pocket. Unfortunately, due to a flaw in the design, the brush does not fit into the bottom compartment where the powder is stored. Even when the brush is not open (there is a tube that pulls up and closes the brush so you can fit a lid over it), it doesn't really fit into the bottom compartment. The result is not being able to get the brush applicator fully covered in powder. Shoving the brush into the bottom only causes powder to fly everywhere, with very little ending up on the brush. I thought it would be ok to just get powder on the top part of the brush and then spread it around as I applied it, but the powder really sticks as soon as it hits skin. We ended up with blotches of protected skin and bigger areas of skin that had no sun screen, as evidenced by our funny looking face tans at the end of the day! In order for this to really work, you'd need to dump the powder into a wide, flat container that is bigger than the brush. Even then, I'm not sure it would spread evenly , and it's difficult to tell which areas of skin are covered, once the powder is blended in. Sadly, the way it's currently designed just doesn't work. It's a great concept and I'd love to be able to use it. It's also an expensive product, and for the price, the product should really be more user friendly.

I recommend over traditional sunscreen
Edit: January 19, 2025 I have been using this powdered sunscreen for almost a month and it is almost time for a refill. I am curious how long it last for others. I have’t seen a mention of timeframe except someone mentioned it last a long time. I am not sure I can afford a refill every month to a month and half. But I also really do not want to go back to cream sunscreen. This powdered translucent(still has some color to it) leaves my face non-greasy and soft. So something that I recommend to the company increase how much powder you give the customer. A way my husband explained it to me is it would be no different than having a subscription. I do not have any subscriptions to anything so this would be like that for me. December 23, 2024 So far I love this sunscreen! This is the first time I have used powder sunscreen. It is easy to use and I have not had any mechanical issues with the tube. The powder comes out as it should. I ordered the translucent powder 30spf. I wish I would have order the 50 since I am using it for my face, but I am still happy with the product. I love not having a white film or greasy face like traditional sunscreens give. I also love how you can order refills, which I will definitely be doing.

Good mineral sunscreen
This is a very handy product to throw in your handbag and lasts a long time. Easy to use, just barely twist it and powder comes out. Only reason for deducting one star is the powder gets a bit caked on the skin so just light touches only.

Wo war dieses Produkt mein ganzes Leben?
Super Produkt! 5 Sterne!

Effective to protect and remove shine.
Goes on easily but I am not sure of how well it covers. I use an oil free moisturizer with sunblock as a base and this product over top. It blends in and takes away any shine or greasy appearance left by the moisturizer. Highly recommended.

FANTASTIC !
THIS STUFF IS ABSOLUTELY GREAT ! To put you in the picture, I spent all of my childhood heavily coated in UVISTAT cream and most of my adult life hiding in the shadows... darting from shady nook to shady nook, tree to tree, sun parasol to sun parasol, crossing the street to the shady side, anything to try to avoid the dreaded rays of the demon sun. As you might have gathered I'm fair skinned, VERY fair skinned and for years I have burned at the very mention of UV. I can transition from pale palid white to third degree red in a matter of about 15-20 mins exposure, followed the same evening by the shakes, nausea, headaches etc - YUP the sun doesn't like me at all... SO.... what's so special about this apparently "expensive" product ? Well in my ongoing quest to step outdoors I have tried just about every sun protection product on the market from creams to "milks" to clear "invisible" sprays to sticks, and although some of them have worked sort of, I have either ended up looking like a highly aromatic glistening shiny painted version of myself (not a good look for the pub), or like a whitewashed ghost. Most of these gems are highly perfumed (they stink), and pretty much all of them have permanently turned the collars of every good summer shirt or T-shirt a mucky yellow which doesn't come out in the wash - ever. So imagine my surprise when I tried this stuff. A DRY POWDER with no smell, that is virtually invisible, takes literally seconds to apply with a brush and STOPS ME BURNING ALL DAY with one application. Initially when it arrived through the mail I thought, tiny tiny amount in here won't last more than a day or two, but then discovered that with daily use one refill lasts me over 2 months - AMAZING ! The secret ? if you can see it on your skin, then you are applying TOO MUCH. You WILL see a little puff of dust as you apply, but then it should disappear. Job Done! PROTECTION ? It's as good if not better than any creams I've used before, and I can go about my business forgetting its even there. To my amazement for the first time in my life I have a "tan" developing, maybe not a golden baked bronze by most peoples standard but a real tan nevertheless. Quite an achievement for a 56 year old who had given up on that every happening in this lifetime. For the very first time in my life I can sit out in the strong sun and relax, not clock watching or worrying about the imminent onset of the dreaded lobster look and pain that usually follows. Once you master how to prime the brush, this stuff is a doddle to use and it JUST WORKS ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
