excellent
The Intex C1000 cartridge filter pump has worked very well for my pool. Installation is simple and doesn't require any complicated tools. From the very first use, you can see how it improves water clarity, keeping it clean and well-circulated. The filter is easy to change, and maintenance is quick. It has good power for small and medium-sized pools, and its operation is quite quiet, which is a definite plus. Furthermore, the Intex brand inspires confidence in terms of quality and durability.

Replaced iPool Pump/Filter. What a difference
The Filter Pump I got with the iPool was (as many reviewers have said)a joke. You could barley feel any water flow in the inlet and outlets of the pool. But thanks to upgrading to the Intex 56637EG, the water flow is more like a real filter pump should be and is very strong. I am a bit confused as to why someone would buy the 56637E without a fault breaker for more money, but to each his/her own. This is a very strong pump, but I have ordered a second as back up. Oh yeah, one more thing, when cleaning the (A) filter, you can actually remove the filter with the pump running, but not with the pump off because when the pump is running, water will only enter at the bottom of the filter well; when the pump is off, pressure from the pool, forces the filter well to fill up. Also, when cleaning the filter, it may look clean (white) but don't let that fool you, as most of the sediment is trapped in the inside folds of the filter where you can't see it; just spray off the filter and out comes brown stuff you would never see by just looking at the filter. Addendum: After running this pump/filter for two seasons (my seasons are about 8 months long as I live in the desert) for an average of 6 to 8 hours a day, I can say this is a very strong pump and I have had no problems with it. Something else I have learned about the filters, is that you don't need a bunch of them, as I have been running off the same filter for the two years, I just unscrew the top as the unit is running, spray off the filter, put it back in, close the lid (not to tight), turn off the power, unscrew the air vent and let all the trapped air out, and then start up the pump again. Addendum 1: I have been using this Pump/Filter for over three years now with NO PROBLEMS. Intex has a new number for this Pump/Filter; it is: 28637EG Addendum 2: This is the start of the 4th year on this pump. I ran the pump for a few days, and I noticed the GFI was tripping, after four or five restarts, the pump impeller started to make an uneven sound, and then it just stopped. I will use the back up pump I have, and have ordered another back up. At $45.00, three years of service is acceptable. I disassembled the bad unit, and the impeller had no damage, so the motor windings (potted) went out. I pulled the impeller and plastic coated magnet (all one unit) out, and anything else I could use for spare parts, and installed the new pump. Also, at minimum before you toss the old unit, clip the extension cord and GFI plug, as the 25ft cord and plug are worth about half what you are spending on the whole pump!

Excellent for our 300 gal. horse tank pool, secure hoses with clamps to pool
We don't have an actual swimming pool, but bought a new 300 gallon Horse tank we bought for a cooling down pool, fits to good size adults just fine, with 3 feet of water. Got a few colored LED lights up, a little Tiki like set up, all done on a very cheap budget. tired of draining every day, even though we are in the country on our own well. Bought this seeing it is just a simple pump with a filter, and we have no pool holes and we did not want to cut into the galvanized tank. With a weight to keep the siphon hose down in the water, which we draped over the rim and goes then into the filter, and a simple cheap "c" clamp for the return draped over the rim of the round tank as well. We then primed the pumpby taking off the lid of pump, filled it with water, filled hoses best we could by dipping in pool, turned it on and works perfectly. Timer works perfectly. ran it 3 times for 4 hours each, pool is crystal clear, very nice. The suction is very good, blows water out with good force. going to make a removable board to affix hoses to, so we can simply slid it in or lift out, it will clip for the rim. When done for season, lean tank up against shed and put pump in shed, all good till next year. Well worth the money, works very good.

UPDATE: Took a chance with another Intex pump, still haven't included hose clamps 2X now!
UPDATE: I have run this pump now for almost a week. It seems to be working well. It circulates a lot of water compared to the 300gph pump I had before. It keeps the pool water clear and clean. I checked the filter today and gave it a rinse with the hose, went from dingy to white again, and popped it back in. It's very easy to access, don't forget to plug the intake and outflow hoses first and unplug the filter. Bought this to replace the 300 gph pump included with my 10'x30" Intex above-ground pool I bought a week ago. So far after 3 days in, this one still works! HOORAY. My original Intex 300gph pump included with the pool worked for maybe 12 hrs, then it would shut off 2 seconds after turning it on. So, I filed a clumsy non-user friendly, and time-consuming claim to replace the pump... but NO, after some questions, they will not replace the pump, but will send me that unit's motor for me to install/replace, and that SHOULD fix the problem. REALLY? By my calculations it would have likely been 2 weeks before I got a pump running after my claim filing, the new motor shipped once approved and all documentation was received, and if I have the time and energy to repair the pump as their surrogate repair tech with the new motor they send me. So, I reluctantly ordered this new 1000 gph pump, as a replacement and will repair my old one (if my repair skills and ability permit) whenever parts arrive, and keep it as a backup. At least with the extra Sixty+ dollars I spent, Intex will send me hose clamps that fit my pump and hoses this time that they didn't send with the last pump so I won't have to make a 20-mile round trip to the hardware store, RIGHT? WRONG. They didn't send me any hose clamps sized for the pump and hose connections with the old pump, AND they didn't send me the right ones for this pump either! (sorry but the 6" hose clamps don't work with 1.5-inch hoses)... Sigh.... at least the hose clamps I bought before covered their original failure and neglect, again. Given the rating, this pump ought to work better with over 3x the gph rate of the old pump. I still haven't set foot in the pool 3 weeks after set up due to pump issues ruining our opportunity during our hot spell, and now during the cold spell, we have yet to use it. Throwing your dice expecting quality control, and parts packing accuracy, coupled with wonky and clumsy customer warranty claims and support, hoping craps doesn't come up is not a good business model. I am not easily perturbed into writing negative reviews, but if they are earned and I have to pay an additional $75 for a new pump and hose clamps due to poor Q.C. to replace pump/hose clamps included on a $103 pool, I think I owe it to prospective purchasers to share my experience.

Big Improvement
I also bought an iPool, and upgraded to this filter pump. I'd read about the weak pump that was standard with the pool but gave it a try for a week before deciding it wasn't going to work for me. I added an Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater system, and even though I made sure to purchase the unit for the low flow pumps, the saltwater unit continually shut off because of a low flow rate. I researched and found all the tips and tricks to resolve the error, but the only thing that worked was upgrading to this pump. It's not as quiet as the one that came with the iPool, but it's more powerful so I expected that. The sound isn't intrusive unless you're sitting right on top of it. My patio table is about 15' feet from the unit and even though I can hear it, it's not bothersome. I'm a middle aged woman with a muscle and nerve condition, but I'm fairly mechanical. I know basic handy person stuff, just enough to get me in trouble occasionally when I start thinking I'm all that and a bag of chips. But I had no problems attaching this to the pool and saltwater system, and didn't have to use any adapters. The connections are the same size as the iPool's, and the hoses are of better quality. Since upgrading I can actually feel water moving through the pool and the saltwater system has worked smoothly with no errors. I also really like that there's a GFI on this; with electricians in the family I'm fully aware of the potential for problems and this feature helps me feel safer when the unit is in use. I've had the filter pump less than a week but love it already. If I have problems in the future I'll update this review. I would recommend this for anyone with a small - medium above ground pool.

Powerful filter without breaking the bank!
Love this filter and so happy I purchased it. I got this filter to throw over the side of my blow up pool. Getting this product primed was a little tricky because you need three hands to do it, but once I got a little help, it has been an asset to helping my pool stay clean. Priming trick to get the air out, take a pitcher, fill the housing unit with water, while holding both ends of the tubes up, fill both tubes also all the way with water, then have someone turn the pump on as you shove the tubes into the water. I used fishing weights to hold the tubes down in my pool since I did not install them into the side of the pool. I love how quiet this filter is and how it quickly cleans the water of debris. I also love the timer, so you can set the filter to run for however long you want, based on your individual needs. This product is secure and it is easy to replace the filters. This product does not leak, all parts are snug and fit as they should. The suction is great and keeps the water moving as it recycles it back into the pool. Great product, affordable price and came with everything you needed to get started.

It turned out to be great after some minor adjustments
I got one of these for a small inflatable pool for my kids. After a few days, I was ready to pull my hair out. The filter would constantly lose it's pressure vacuum by breaking the water surface and have to be primed again. It honestly took everything I had not to smash it to bits after the first few days (I had to go out and re-prime the pump at least once every hour. After a few observations, I noticed the problem wasn't the hoses breaking surface the surface, it was because I had the pump above the water level. Once I lowered it down, it started functioning with little to no adjustments. After the first week of trial and error the pump worked great. The water stayed nice and clean, and clear of debris in our 500 gallon pool. I did have to use a chlorine treatment about once a week to keep the water from turning green, but this is just a filter, not a miracle device. I was able to find replacement filters at Wal-Mart for about $5 each. I just had to cut out the center ring out to make them fit. Some tips if you're using this pump: I found that priming this filter was kind of a pain. You have to remove ALL of the air from both the filter housing and the hoses. On an above ground pool where this is installed in the outer walls of the pool, it probably isn't as difficult, but I was using this sitting on the ground next to the pool with the houses going over the side and into the water. There is a small cap on top of the filter -- loosen that. Then hold both hoses up in the air and pour water into them until they're full. Then place the hoses into the water and be sure they stay below the surface. You're now ready to turn it on. I picked up some additional filters at the store when they clearanced them out at the end of the season as I plan on using this again next year. Overall, I liked this filter, but priming it was such a pain. For the price, it's definitely worth it to not have to refill your pool and wait 1-2 days for the water to get warm enough to enjoy it and my kids loved having a nice clean pool all summer.
