Good, could be better.
Pros:looks really pretty and much more expensive than they actually were. Well worth £20.Would suit most rooms/settings as neutral.Good safe easily recyclable packaging.Cons:Incredibly fiddly to put together, although gets easier once you have mastered the first one.Controller is utterly hideous, ugly &huge, not in keeping with the set.Halogen bulbs which are less popular now & harder to replace due to the increased fire risk associated with some of them.

Pleasing effect but fiddly assembly
This light feature comprises a chrome-effect base unit with a rubberised non-scratch base, five glass shades in various designs, made to resemble tea-light holders, a power lead with dimmer unit and five miniature halogen bulbs. A plastic box-spanner is also included to assist with assembly. Be aware that, unless you have long, thin and very dextrous fingers, you are likely to find the assembly process quite a chore. In the end, I resorted to a pair of long-nosed pliers to drop the washers into place. The final task of inserting the bulbs is particularly awkward as, being old-school halogen bulbs, you are not supposed to touch the glass surface, whilst manoeuvring the two tiny prongs into place. Unfortunately I found this unavoidable, so only time will tell how long the bulbs will last (a pack of 10 replacements costs around £8).Onto the good points. After half an hour or so of assembling the unit, I eagerly plugged in. Have to admit that the results are quite pleasing. I particularly like the dimmer function, which allows anything from a low-level cosy effect up to a brightness easily sufficient to read by. Could have done with a little more length in the power lead perhaps. The shades and upper surface of the base do get quite warm, so do make sure it's not touching anything that could be damaged or is inflammable.Overall, I do like the quite charming ambiance provided by this unusual lighting feature, but it does strike me as a little on the pricey side and could have been designed to make changing the bulbs a bit easier.

Gives a very attractive warm mood light in your living room
I got this light without consulting my wife first - a very dangerous move because we tend to make joint decisions about things like this. The weird thing is when I started unwrapping it she was all set to hate it, but when we had assembled it and turned it on... she actually liked it.The appeal of this light fitting is that the light from the dimmable bulbs shining through the mottled glass jars creates a very warming light effect. In the corner of our living room with the dimmer turned low it creates a nice mood.Assembly is a little bit annoying. It arrives with the glass jars wrapped in cardboard, and you have to remove the bolts from the five lampholders, put each jar in place and then screw the bolt in place to hold it there. A little black plastic tool is provided to do this, and after you've done it a few times you become quite an expert. I imagine there are some people out there whose fingers are either too small or too large to make this procedure enjoyable. Once your jars are screwed in you insert the five bulbs, and I used a little piece of tissue paper to avoid touching the glass.Once in place, you turn the lights on with a semi transparent dimmer unit that is attached part way along the mains cable. It's interesting to be able to see inside the dimmer, much as it was interesting to see inside the original iMac computers. My only difficulty with this light fitting is that the power cable isn't quite long enough for me, but this is easily dealt with by using an extension cord.I experimented swapping the halogen bulbs with some G4 LED bulbs I got on Amazon. This wasn't 100% successful as the taper from off to on all happens in a tiny part of the movement of the dimmer. It's much easier to set the halogen bulbs to exactly the brightness you want. I don't know enough about physics to know whether a low energy LED bulb will consume less electricity than a halogen bulb after it has been powered through a dimmer switch. The cost of an LED upgrade isn't excessive and the bulbs should last longer. In terms of quality of manufacture, the chromed metal base is best described as tolerable. It's not ugly but it's not been made to the highest standards. The glass jars are nice, varied designs and they let light through from the bulbs in an attractive way. Dusting this unit is likely to be a bit of a pain though.

Mood lighting.
Bally tea light shades..........A chrome stand with 5 small, glass shades in co-ordinating colours sitting on it, each shade has a small G4 12v, 10w bulb inside it to illuminate then and give out a gentle light which is similar to tea light candles.Presentation...........The light arrives in pieces- each glass shade being carefully wrapped in tissue and card to protect it on the the journey. The bulbs are provided in a small bag, each in their own box- these are not low energy, long life LEDs...if you wish to swap these for LED’s it can be done at a cost of around two pounds ninety a bulb... swapping the bulbs would also lower the running cost and stop the chrome tray and bulbs from getting hot.Building the light............This wasn’t a big job, but if you are unsure it can look a little daunting. The instruction leaflet covers the construction but by golly is it unprofessional- a photocopied sheet. If I was giving this as a gift I would build it before giving it..as the presentation when it arrives is a little “ market stall”.The look..........To get the most from the display it needs to be switched on, when not lit it doesn’t look anything special at all, I think it’s because the lights are set out in a line. When switched on the light is a gentle glow rather than a table lamp , it is pretty and if displayed correctly can look very effective, I have it in my bedroom for a soft mood light....I will be changing the bulbs though.
