Review: Great recipes! - Irish dishes and very complete. I have an Irish Chef in the house and this is an excellent addition to our kitchen. Review: Deliciousness of the past to the present - It's been some time since I've bought this book. I tried a few recipes and loved them. Then a I put the book down for a few years. Recently I picked it up again and perused the recipes and stories again. Perhaps I was not ready for the book back then but now I look through and feel a lot of love coursing through the pages. It's a journey of a life. The nostalgia of the past to the adventure of the new. All throughout, love in all it's forms is there. I tried a some recipes again and it was comforting and delicious. I have not tried all of them as some require more work. And that's ok. All cuisines have some easier recipes and some that require more time. I like that he was worked hard on the instructions to be as clear as he can. Perhaps the author is really striving for the reader to experience the flavors he experiences since he cannot cook for everyone. It's the family recipes that I love here. I feel like I'm eating lifetimes of stories with each bite. Recently I discovered there is some Irish ancestry in my Filipino heritage. So I picked up the book again and now learning to explore the diversity of my past through food. I will be cooking more from this book. It's educational, personal, and delicious.

Great Recipes and Tales of an Irish Childhood
I love the cookbook. Not only does one get lots of great Irish recipes, tales of the author's childhood in Ireland are interspersed among them. The photographs are beautiful and entice the reader to make the recipes. Along with simple, easy to follow and to prepare recipes, the author has included some more challenging and complex recipes for dishes he serves at his restaurant. All in all a great Irish cookbook.

This was a St. Patrickโs Day hit!
Some friends and I started a cookbook club, and we adopted this cookbook for our March get together on St. Patrickโs Day. Since I chose the book, I thought I would provide a review. We started with the potato leek soup and Irish soda bread, which were both absolutely delicious and a huge hit! I made the chicken casserole as our main dish, which was very easy to make and got rave reviews. I chose to use all chicken thighs for this so it would cook evenly, and I was able to do the whole thing from start to finish in about 2 1/2 hours. We had lots of side veggies, including the glazed carrots, the cold asparagus with poached egg, the cauliflower with cheese sauce, the mashed potato colcannon (delish) and the scones (amazing for breakfast the next day too!). The only two recipes that didnโt pan out 100% were the desserts. Mind you this could have been user error, we are amateurs, but the apple crumble was a bit runny and the pineapple upside down cake was very oily from all the butter. We still managed to consume a lot of both of these with a dish of vanilla ice cream. :) This was the only thing keeping me from giving it five stars. Beautifully illustrated, and lots of interesting stories throughout. Highly recommend this if you are trying to expand your Irish cooking repertoire!

Cathal Armstrong has brilliantly crafted a book that seamlessly weaves between autobiography and cookbook with absolute perfection. The recipes found within are richly colored with family history and personal flare. His dedication to customer satisfaction, environmental responsibility, and his culinary profession are on strong display in this cookbook, and I would recommend it to anyone who is searching for recipes that can inspire and satisfy both the mind and the palate.

A Great Find in Canada!
My husband and I were given the gift of My Irish Table by my sister when we lived in Ireland. There are a number of excellent, delicious, and authentic Irish meals ready to enjoy using this cookbook. We like it so much that we bought it for my sister now that we're back in Canada. It will be her Christmas present this coming year. What an easy, and enjoyable way to shop for special people.

So delicious they're downright amazing!!
This book was worth the purchase for the Shepard's Pie all on its own. We've not tried many others but darn, that Shepard's Pie is startlingly impressive. We made it on several different occasions and each time we've been asked to share the recipe. I want to make it for my grandfather who's own grandmother was described by many as "a d@mn fine Irish cook". Both of his grandparents were from Ireland and he has fond memories of eating traditional Irish food. I'd like to know how this stacks up against her recipe!

I enjoy the recipes & the instructional way they are presented
I enjoy the recipes & the instructional way they are presented. Also enjoy the personal narratives. The author could have tempered his self effusive, puffed-up view of himself abit; we already know you're a success Cathal!! Remains however, one of the best Irish cook books available
