Moosewood Restaurant New Classics

One of my favorite cookbooks!
I have hundreds of cookbooks, but this is in the top 5. I go to it over and over again. Itโs really one of the best collections of types of recipes you would actually make. The recipes are all user friendly. I make the roasted vegetable quesadillas every week. The Carolina vegetable soup is delicious. Great sandwiches and spreads. This is my go-to gift cookbook, even for people who arenโt vegetarian!

Birkenstock-free healthy classics with an international flair
At first I was skeptical, but this book came as a gift. In the past despite a strong health-conscious bent, I pointedly did not consider a Moosewood cookbook as I considered them too granola-y. Yeah I know brown rice is better for me, but I still want my food bursting with bright flavor, to dance on my tongue. These recipes do. While not every recipe is to my taste, most of what I've made I have or will make again. My husband begs for the warm potato salad ( I do ramp up the flavors in it a bit) if I haven't made it for a month or two. This may be the only hardback cookbook I bring with my on my multi-year international sail (Michael Greenwald's Cruising Chef Cookbook is available on Kindle). Dang -- sure wish there was a Kindle version!

Easy to make, tastes like a chef made it!
Iโm not a great cook, but I am somehow still able to impress myself every time I make something from this cookbook! I am able to do everything in the directions, and there are no weird ingredients to try to find at the store. Just healthy vegetables transformed into something really delicious by these recipes.

Great Introduction to Vegetarianism
I was first introduced to this cookbook about the same time I started to be more thoughtful about what I ate. I really like that it runs the gamut from fish dishes all the way to totally vegan. As an almost vegan (I dig honey!), I gave a copy of this book to my future mother in law when she expressed interest in limiting her own meat intake.I have yet to find a recipe in this book I don't like (provided I can eat it at all). Their vegan pie crust is great, I love the vegan cake and sometimes I just read through for ideas.

Good for a change
I bought this cookbook after spending a week at a retreat where the food was exclusively vegetarian. I wanted to expand my own vegetarian cooking I looked at a lot of cookbooks and, while I would have preferred the original Moosewood Cookbook, I find this one to be very useful and I use it a lot. I like it so much I sent a copy to my daughter.Jane Newhagenauthor ofย Sand Dollar: a tale of old Key West

tasty and easy
I love all of the Moosewood books and have been cooking from them since the Enchanted Broccoli Forest , which I still use. The recipes are well written and tasty. They are excellent pot luck take alongs and I have never had any complaints. Most of them are easily made vegan also.

Vegetarian? Who cares?
This is a wonderful cookbook that I return to over and over again, not because it is vegetarian, but because the recipes are so flavorful and a joy to prepare. Our family has particularly enjoyed the rich risottos that lend themselves to many variations. I have also given it as a gift to friends who enjoy vegetarian cooking. This is a favorite that always stays close at hand.
