So far they are great
Using these for fishing tools like pliers, hook remover, line nippers on an ice fishing backpack. They’ve held up well so far and seem solid. The snap is solid and holds well to the backpack. Overall great value in comparison to some of the other major brands that get too much for inferior products compared to these retractors.

New toy for the wife.
Time will tell if these will hold up but they work great new, got them to retain line clippers in my Ice fishing sled. The fun part is my wife love pulling the thing out and back, she's a fun but strange women? Buy them for her???

IF You Are A Golfer - Read This
If you are a golfer, you know that you bought that club cleaner that clips onto your golf bag. AND you know that retractable string that the club cleaner is on is fragile and breaks all the time. So, you have to buy an entire new $10-25 club cleaner (I know there are cheaper ones but…). This solves that! I have club cleaners that I had to put in a zipper pocket and take it out (after finding it) to clean my club. But now I used one of these and now I have my club cleaner back. I had several old ones and now I have 3 I can use. I highly recommend this - it give you 2 ways to connect the cleaner to this device (a clip and a ring) so you can choose AND it works.

Good deal for the money!
I don't use these for fly fishing. I use them for metal detecting and holding onto the little things around an in my pouch. They work exceptionally well, better than some of the belt clip type I've had in the past. They are real good for small items such as eye loupes, small cleaning brushes etc... I have much larger and stronger ones from a different manufacturer for my pinpointer and digging trowel. These are smaller versions of those. Basically the same concept. Keeping your stuff from being lost in the field, water or woods. They work well.
