CHULUX Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker for K Pod, Brew Up to 12oz Cup, Black

I bought this single cup brewer for several important reasons: Small size/footprint— takes up very little countertop space Low power—800W allows me to plug in same 20A kitchen outlet as the 1200W microwave oven, which also shares the same circuit as the rice cooker and refrigerator. Once in a while the branch circuit breaker trips when the rice cooker and microwave oven are both running. But I have not had the problem when the Chilux and microwave are both running. Some more “powerful” coffee makers might brew your cup 30 seconds faster, but then I might have to go outside to reset the circuit breaker more often. Perfect for Travel—this little thing is light and compact. While it doesn’t have a water storage tank that traps water inside, I still place inside a plastic bag when packing into my bag just in case there’s a few drips. Low Price—the price for this little thing is fair. I wanted a small unit without any fancy features and it fit my needs perfectly. Now on to my long term review. Maybe I have had extremely good luck with my unit, but it has worked flawlessly for one year and about 9 months. For the price I could not ask for anything better. I have used it daily for a morning cup of coffee since my doctor advised me to cut back on caffeine when diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia condition. I don’t want or need a large coffee pot and the single use k-cups are perfect for me when brewed with 12-14 oz water and then poured into a vacuum insulated coffee mug to last all morning. I also have used it for single cup afternoon coffee either decaf or regular with an 8oz to 10oz water charge. I use a 2 cup Pyrex glass pitcher to fill water and then collect the brewed. I have only used tap water from the municipal water supply. This is great water I’ve been drinking for years. This might be one of the reasons I have not had to clean my unit for 1.75 years. Now the failure came over the course of a week recently. The coffee maker would dispense the brew more slowly than normal, and I noticed a little bit less volume when it reached end of brew cycle. Finally it would simply turn off after only half the water was dispensed. It seemed that the problems people reported in their reviews finally reached my unit. Ok, so I had never attempted to clean the unit in the whole time I’ve used it. So, I thought I should try the vinegar cleaning method. My box and cleaning instructions were long gone. Instead I poured standard white vinegar 6 oz into the reservoir and started a complete brew cycle with no coffee pod installed. I then added a few ice cubes to cool down the brewed output and poured it back Into the reservoir for another run. It did not do much good and I thought to myself that maybe I should have been cleaning regularly as recommended. So I stepped it up a notch by using CLR cleaner because that stuff does wonders for cleaning mineral deposits like calcium and lime and rust — hence the name CLR! I knew that the CLR product is non toxic and is recommended for cleaning coffee makers. I failed to read the fine print on the bottle that said to use 1 part CLR to 8’parts water for this task. Instead I used 6 oz straight poured into the intake, then I ran a brew cycle. The new cycle terminated early after only half the fluid had been transferred. So I hit the brew cycle button again for more action. After that I added ice cubes to cool the solution and dilute a little and I ran it again through the brewer. I did this several times until had about 12 ounces of working cleaning fluid. I poured the solution in the reservoir hit the brew button until the unit started to produce an output then I promptly hit the button again to stop the action. I came back an hour later and decided to continue running the cycle which seemed to be much improved! The cleaning actually worked great! Now the problem was flushing out the coffeemaker with clean water.... running the CLR straight meant higher concentration and it took about 10 cycles of running 12 to 16 oz clean water each time to clean the unit. I let the water sit in the unit for an hour between cycles and it eventually reduced the residual CLR cleaner smell to levels my sensitive nose could no longer detect. Looking back I should have first followed the directions of using 1 part vinegar to 1 part water, poured into the unit and start then stop the brewing cycle to let it sit and clean the unit for an hour. I plan to do this next time the performance degrades — either the brew flow slows down and/or the volume out does not equal the volume in. I don’t think I need to do this every 2 weeks since my water seems to not cause buildup problems for about 18 to 21 months. Maybe every 6 months would be good. I bought a second Chulux unit a few days ago when my first stopped working, but then after cleaning my original is back running good as new! ! ! I’m keeping the second unit anyway since it arrived today. I almost feel like buying a third unit to keep as a spare for 10 years down the road when you probably cannot buy them anymore. I think eventually the electronics or mechanical parts, hoses, etc may fail. But until then I will keep using and cleaning this little champ every day!

I've had my "CHULUX Single Serve Coffee Maker Brewer for K Cups" for a year and a few months. Over that time, I've regularly made about 6 cups of perfect coffee with very few issues. I was a former owner of at least 6 Keurig brand coffee makers that worked, but failed after about 8 months.. YES.. all of them lasted ONLY about 8 months. Tried everything on YouTube to get them to work again... but nothing. So, I got fed up with their POOR quality and decided to try the CHULUX. This little thing is built like a "tank". It just keeps going! Coming from the BIG BULKY Keruig's to this small thing was a bit of a surprise.. but I now love it's smaller size and foot print. The Keurig tank and water handling system design is flawed. The whole system constantly holds water in the internal tubes. I found this IS a breeding ground for mold (after taking a few of mine apart trying to diagnose issues) that you cannot see (without disassembly) and cannot get rid of. Flushing with vinegar or their brand of cleaner only "kills" the mold. This leaves "dead slime" from the mold that gets hung up in the system. The Keurig water pumps are definitely inferior (longevity wise) to the CHULUX. They just will not hold up to 6 cups a day for more than about 8 months. As to those that have had the water overflow problem, the issue (CHULUX's) is there is a small particle strainer at the bottom of the "throat" where you pour the water in and it passes through the strainer into the tank. The holes are just too small and too few. Unless you slowly pour the water into the tank.. you will occasionally get a back flow. I feel this is a design flow on their part. What I have done is to remove this strainer (easily done with one finger) and use it without it. I've not had any issues with the tank getting foreign matter accumulated or in the machines operation. As to those with the grounds coming lose from the pods and getting into the coffee or on the machine itself or counter top. I've not had this issue. It could be the pods themselves have a defect or poorly made. It could be how you are putting the lid down on the pod and latching it shut. The motion should be swift once you start to the closure process. I make one swift movement and latch it immediately. As for the heat up time of the water. When I first received my CHULUX, my last old Keurig was still working. So, I timed how long each took from "start brewing button push" until coffee started flowing. The CHULUX was maybe 5 seconds slower than the Keurig. The improvements I would like to see would be a faster brew time ( I would pay more for this feature or such a model) and bigger holes in the water strainer.

Simple & easy to use. Straight out of the box this item was ready to plug in & use. (I also own a Keurig k50 classic series - which sadly takes up a lot of space & requires some assembly). I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that there is no assembly required. The cord wasn't too long or too short. The same length as my toaster and/or blender cord would be in comparison. The directions didn't say to run vinegar through the machine - but I did run 1 cycle of vinegar followed by 4 cycles of water to flush the system out before officially making my first cup of coffee. NO weird smells and NO strong plastic taste. I used a kcup from a company called: Cafe escapes - 'cafe caramel' flavor & it turned out wonderful. I had soo many questions before ordering this machine. So this is my first impressions review of the Chulux Single serve coffee maker in comparison to my Keurig K50 series. It is definitely worth giving this baby a shot. Seeing that the price alone is a major plus. It takes up 1/3 of the space my Keurig would. My concerns were to find a machine to use when traveling. I also wondered which size mugs & travel tumblers would fit underneath the dispensing spout. So I promptly pulled out 3 of my most used mugs & tumbler. First up is a 12 oz. standard size mug which came out of a Corelle plate set. It measures 6 inches tall. & fit perfectly under the spout with drip tray. Second up is my fav. princess Anna Disneyland mug......depending on how full you fill your cups....this mug holds 12 oz up to 14 oz (if you fill it to the rim). It measured 7 inches tall, although I did have to remove the drip tray for this taller mug to fit & there wasn't much extra room to spare. So at this point I am going to say the max height of any cup you plan on using with the Chulux single serve brewer should 7" or shorter in height. My 3rd was my beloved 16 oz. stainless steel starbucks to go tumbler but it was waaaayyy taller than my princess Anna Mug & when sitting next to the Chulux machine it was obviously to big to fit underneath the spout.......unless I plan to transfer my coffee from mug to tumbler I guess I won't be using it while traveling. On to my next concern - I had read in previous reviews that only specific reusable metal filters are compatible with this machine. I was hoping that the ones I already have would fit. Because sometimes I do use my own pre-ground coffee I have an Eco-fill 2.0 metal reusable coffee kcup filter. (it does not work with this Chulux machine so DON'T buy that brand). Why not? The most important thing to know is that the top lid of the Chulux machine closes flush against the small insert area that holds the Kcup. My Eco-fill 2.0 has a huge hinge on 1 side that prevents the lid from completely closing. Whichever reusable Kcup you do decide to use needs to close & be flat & smooth around all sides. I happened to have the Cafe cups (as seen on TV brand) and YES these do fit & are compatible with the Chulux machine!!!! I will show both the wrong & right brands in pictures posted for reference. Brewing a cup of coffee was easy. Plug in machine. Life lid, pour in water, insert kcup pod, close lid, lock lid, then press the ON button. Once you press the on button you can already hear the water starting to warm up & boil. It took about 1 & 30 secs. to heat up & brew. That's not long at all. I must admit I am slightly spoiled with my pre-heated Keurig so I don't really have to wait for the heat up time. But considering it is probably all those extra gizmos that enable pre-heating that take up precious kitchen counter space in the first place then I can survive waiting for 1 minute. I hope that this review will be helpful to anyone who may been wondering the same things as me. I will probably update later on the durability part. I plan to only use this when I travel - so it's not an everyday use for me.

Updated August 6, 2026. Okay, so I have had it for 7 months or more. It has been great!!!! Great Home Coffee Maker. Used it multiple times daily for the last 7 or more months! (BTW: Big-name hotel chains are removing Coffee Makers from rooms. This is a portable alternative!) Bottom Line: This is getting a BMW machine for a VW price. No problems. Super easy! ​It’s small and compact—exactly what I need for our tiny kitchen. It would be very portable if one needed that. I am the only coffee drinker in this house, so I don’t need a bigger one. But I should say, there are K-Cup teas and hot chocolates available, so yes, my wife could use it too. ​Anyway, I personally find the sound level good; it is not loud. It’s fast, taking about 3 minutes to make a cup. Most importantly, it makes a good cup of coffee. ​It’s a no-frills, push-only-one-button type of machine. Simple. One thing I specifically looked for was something that would work like the Keurig machines—that is, not having a bunch of adapters. 3 Steps: Pour in water. Insert Kcup, push button. How simple is that? This uses no K-Cup adapter!! Extra adapters for using ground coffee or other brands of capsules, can get lost or break. This just has the basket opening; slip in the K-Cup, and you are done. ​One thing about K-Cup coffee is that it is consistent. It makes a good, dark cup of coffee every time and does it fast. The reservoir only holds 12 ounces of water, which is okay, as I normally only use an 8 oz cup or mug. It might hold 16oz. ​My machine arrived brand new. It was nicely packed and works well so far. One advantage of Amazon is that if you live near a Kohl’s or Staples, returns are easy if need be. However, I don’t think there will be a need for that with this machine. 7-8 months later, no need to return! ​One thing about reviews is that many people want the features of a Porsche for a Chevy price. So, here are the facts: it’s a good "Chevy." Actually, I would say it’s as good as higher-priced machines. It’s reasonably priced; I think I got mine on sale for about $33. Just recently was visiting somewhere that had a Keurig, I'd say it's better. No frills, it's true. but works ​Let me address a complaint common to coffee capsule machines: people want hotter coffee. I think this is pretty good compared to my last German capsule machine (and Germans like hot coffee, too). I think it is simply the science of these types of machines; to get a fast cup of coffee, the water isn't heated quite as much. Having used this 8 months. I think it is hot enough to scald someone. ​Here is what I often do, regardless of the brand of coffee: I preheat my coffee cup. Use hot tap water or put water in a coffee cup and use the microwave while your coffee is being made, to heat up the mug. This will give you a hotter experience without changing the taste of the coffee. It’s the same principle used with a Thermos. Pre-warm the Thermos and your coffee stays warmer longer; pre-heat the coffee cup and your coffee will be hotter. If one uses a cold, room-temperature cup, the coffee cools down instantly due to the cold material. But honestly, I think it's hot enough. Most people will be happy. ​Anyway, if I develop problems with the machine or have other comments, I will update this review. So, updated this 7-8 months later. Very pleased with it. ​Oh, for those of you wanting to use this machine with a solar generator or a portable power station, it uses 800 watts. That means if you have a 1000-watt hour power station, you might use about 47 watt-hours to make each cup of coffee, which is good. ​So far, I am really impressed with this little machine. It makes good coffee, it's fast, and it's simple. It’s much easier than the old filter coffee machines of years ago. My machine is black and tiny—in our kitchen, it’s just the right size. By the way, with (name withheld) Hotel chain is removing Coffee machines from the Rooms, this is small enough to pack and bring to the Hotel room. Other Hotels are removing their coffee machines too. If you want to make coffee in your room, instead of going to the lobby every time. This might work for you! ​A 5-star review.

I was very pleased with the Chulux QF-CM801 until it quit. Yes; quit! I bought it in mid June, 2018 and had used it several times. It worked fine brewed acceptable K-cup coffee. Simple, small, handy, good; all adjectives I would use to describe the little machine. BUT: now here we are in late July and the machine STOPPED. Yes; it does nothing. When the water is in the reservoir, exactly 1 1/2 cups measured, the K-cup is inserted full down, the lid is lowered and "locked", and the blue button is depressed, I get a steady blue light, huffing and puffing sounds, and maybe a tablespoon of very bitter coffee liquid. The blue light recycles every few seconds and repeats the huffing and puffing routine. Finally, it goes off. I am a mechanically inclined person with may years of experience with complex aviation equipment, computers, etc., but this little machine has me stumped. To compound my frustration, the email address in the Instruction Manual, [email protected] (apparently the ONLY way to reach the seller), is invalid. I sent using Outlook in Office 365, so everything here is current. At this point, I'm very disappointed that I spent $40 on something so highly recommended in these reviews, and have nothing to show for it. I'm hoping Chulux will read this and respond with a valid contact. UPDATE: Jessica at CHULUX did respond with apologies and a valid email address: [email protected]. Too bad the correct address is not in the manual; it would make correspondence so much easier! BUT; now to the good news. If you checked the "one comment" attached to this original post, you read the assurances of Jessica that all would be corrected to my satisfaction. IT WAS! With the correct email address I explained the nature of my problem, and with little delay, CHULUX refunded my money for the coffee maker and the reusable coffee filters. GOOD RESPONSE by CHULUX! Absolutely no hassle. I'm very pleased with their response to my problem. NOTE: At the time I bought our CHULUX coffee maker, I sent one to our daughter in L.A. with the four pack of reusable coffee filters. My wife visited her just after the CHULUX arrived and used it every day. It worked FINE! So, that particular coffee maker worked just as advertised for this last two months. That's early to judge an electromechanical device, but so far so good. I'm hoping our daughter's machine will live up to the many great kudos this machine has received to make it an "Amazon's Choice" product. Every product can have a lemon, and this time it was mine. CHULUX fixed the problem FAST! Kudos to Jessica at CHULUX.

I don’t just "open and review" products. I put them to the test. I’ve owned this CHULUX machine since June 2022, using it daily for my morning coffee, and it has been incredibly reliable. For a budget-priced machine, it has more than paid for itself over the 1,000+ cups it has brewed for me. What I Like: Simple Operation: It’s a straightforward process: measure your water, pop in a K-cup (or a refillable capsule), lock the lid, and press the button. It couldn't be simpler. Versatility: I’ve used various brands of K-series cups as well as refillable pods, and they all work perfectly. Reliable Performance: In three and a half years, I’ve had only one minor issue with a blocked needle in the lid. A quick email to CHULUX customer service (who replied within 24 hours!) solved the problem with a simple cleaning tip. Things to Note: Manual Water Measurement: You do have to measure your water for each cup. Sensitivity: Occasionally, the "on" button requires a firm, square press to stay engaged, but it’s a minor quirk I’ve gotten used to. User Tip: Don't forget to put your cup under the dispenser! I've made that mistake a few times and ended up with a tray full of coffee. Final Verdict: This machine isn't fancy, but it does exactly what it says on the box. It’s a solid, basic, and efficient coffee maker that has stood the test of time. I give it a 9/10—if you're looking for a budget-friendly, single-serve brewer, I have no hesitation in recommending this one.

I am in love with this little cutie! Is the perfect size for my space, is nice and compact. Also love the color! It takes exactly 3 minutes to make a cup of coffee like the pamphlet says (I timed it🤭) and the coffee tastes great. It is easy to clean and I haven’t had any issues with the lid closing. Material feels nice and it’s not heavy. I got a little drawer for storing my coffee pods and the coffee maker fits perfectly on it is secure that it will not tip over. So far so good 😊 very satisfied with me purchase.

Pros: This coffee brewer works just as described. It is very user-friendly. All you have to do is pour in water, put in a K-cup, and press the on button. The machine turns off automatically once it's finished brewing, so you can walk away from it to get other things done and then come back to a finished cup of coffee and a shut-off machine. Every time I've tried it so far, it has taken 2 minutes and 45 seconds from the time I press the on button to the time the machine turns off. The compact size of the machine is a big bonus for me, too. It holds more liquid than I typically need for my coffee (it holds up to 12 oz, but I usually only use 8 oz). The amount of water you pour into the machine is the exact amount that comes out (I measured before and after), so you can measure the water level you want in your mug and then pour it out into the machine. The manufacturer recommends using cups with a maximum height of 5.5 inches, but if you remove the drip tray (which is very easy to do), you can fit a mug with a height up to about 6.25 inches under the drip spout. The drip tray holds an absolute maximum of 3 oz of liquid. Cleaning the machine is also very easy. Before using it for the first time, run it without a K-cup. Just use water. I also cleaned the removable drip spout, the rubber drip spout ring, the drip tray, and the water filter basket piece with lukewarm water and soap. I also poured warm water into the machine, closed and locked the lid, shook the machine up and down, and then poured the water out, and repeated twice more. After that, it seemed good to go. This machine is probably best for those who aren't big coffee aficionados but just enjoy a cup of coffee every now and then. You could even just use it as a water boiler to get piping hot water in just under 3 minutes. Cons: As to the safeness of the product, the product is made in China, but contains a UL serial number on the underside of the machine (see attached picture) that you can use to look up the product in the UL's database. While the item is listed in the database under "Household cooking appliances," it says that "neither the toxicity of coatings nor the physiological effects of consuming food prepared by use of these appliances has been investigated." Just something to consider before buying it. I think that for many like myself, the cheapness of the product is an advantage that outweighs the disadvantage of the safety risk, but if I could afford to shell out more money, I'd go with something with a better, stricter safety rating. Also, it is curious that the image for this product here on Amazon contains the FDA logo, but nowhere in the instruction manual, on the box, or on the machine does this logo also appear, which means it is likely not certified at all by the FDA. This is a rather sketchy move by the seller, and is the main reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall: Go with it if you want something cheap, effective, and easy to maintain, and if the safety risk doesn't bother you too much. Don't go with it if you have more money to spend and can buy a similar product with a better safety rating by a well-recognized, well-reputed safety standards organization.

Está muy bonita yo la compré en color rosa, está chiquita pero es el tamaño perfecto ya que solo es de una taza, lo único q no me gustó fue que no le puedes poner cualquier cápsula:( le tiene que quedar bien y por eso le quito 2 estrellas por otro lado menciona que no trae el filtro reutilizable, no sé qué pasó pero en la mía si venía un filtro e igual yo había comprado los filtros aparte pero bueno si me lo incluía aunque reitera varias veces que no jaja El café si lo filtra muy bien y sabe muy rico así que cumple su función y lo de las cápsulas pues sólo buscar unas que si le queden (que si las hay) en fin es muy buena opción si vives solita como yo y eres la única q toma café, muy fácil de usar y a simple vista la cafetera se ve súper cute😍

I bought this small CHulux because I wanted something small for #VanLife living. It is compact and it works great. I use it multiple times a day off my solar power system. It takes 740 watts to make a large coffee. I bought my Chulux for $45 last year and not sure how the price jumped to $114 !! Don't believe its worth that much...But it does work great. And it's easy to clean out whenever it becomes jammed with coffee grounds. Great coffee maker for small spaces, like VanLiving...
