Product description The world's finest Quality, picked from the finest flowers, Kashmiri Mongra Is One of the Oldest and The Most Expensive Spice in The World found only in Kashmir. It grows at 1530 Feets above sea level. The Signature Quality For Its Purity & It Contains More Than 150 Volatile And Aroma Yielding Compounds.Kashmir Saffron is the most potent variety of saffron in the world. It has the highest levels of safranal, crocin & picrocrocin - compounds which give saffron its intense aroma, vivid colour and characteristic taste. One can easily identify Kashmir Saffron as only the thickest and darkest stigmas are selected for packing within the Mongra grade. Kashmir Saffron is also the rarest and the most expensive form of Saffron available in the markets as annual production is limited to only about 2000-2500 kg which is less than 1% of total world production. Post harvest, most of the stocks are sold to Michelin star restaurants around the world as well as private collectors and connoisseurs of fine and rare spices. Kashmir Saffron cultivated in and around saffron fields of Pampore has consistently produced some of the best saffron in the world with a coloring strength of 210+. Unlike uni-dimensional saffron produced in other parts of the world, Kashmir Saffron has a pleasant honey-like aroma and a sweet after-taste which makes it ideal for a wide range of culinary applications. Each pack of Kashmir Saffron is stamped with three essential figures. Crocin, Picrocrocin and Safranal levels based on laboratory tests. Kashmir Saffron is an excellent choice for your plating needs as it mostly consists of lush, thick and all red/maroon threads without the tail ends of the stigmas. Lovely product
Kashmiri Saffron has traditionally been considered the best but as a result there have been issues with adulteration over the years. This product seems authentic: It is VERY fragrant and adds a rich taste to food. If you place a saffron thread on your tongue it has the characteristic bitter taste of Crocin, one of the healthy compounds in real saffron. There is no dust in the jar, just clean threads of saffron that are in good condition and not dried out. This saffron does not colour immediately and the red turns to a rich golden colour like it should. Adulterated saffron tends to rapidly release colour and then go pale; these don't. All this encourages me to think that this is quality saffron as described. It is well packed in 1g glass jars and comes at a good price. Hence, this is a repeat order. I would also like to commend the seller as being very helpful. Enjoy!
