ASE Test Prep L3 - Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification Study Guide (Motor Age Training - 2016)

Reading this book only won't help you pass the exam. If you know a decent amount of hybrid diagnostics and know the difference between an "interverter" and a "converter". As well as the difference between a "drive motor" and a "motor/generator."I don't regret buying this, though. It did help me prepare to know the ASE terminology for this test, which is a little different than most real-world diagnostics.

I have bought books before to study for my ASE tests and this one not very good, please look around before you buy this particular book

Buyer beware. This book does NOT fully cover the schematics that will be found in the test. I bought it for my husband thinking this would prepare him for the Electric ASE L3 exam, and it DID NOT. The test has MUCH MORE schematics than are found here & go way deeper into the different types of electric vehicles. Don’t waste your money!

Its an okay study guide. You need to know a lot of Toyota and L1 info.

I purchased this as the only available prep guide for the L3. I am a 100% trained GM dealer tech. I had taken the introductory L3 exam. Asyou have read elsewhere the practice questions have no relevance whatsoever. The book came with 2 typed sheets of answers to these ques-tions (changed since printing). Yes I can say I learned a little from the book. You have to read between the lines but this book can help to giveyou some understanding of ASE's poorly written and drawn test reference (type 1,2,3 hybrid- terms they made up). I have passed the test sincebut I fully credit the intensive week-long GM course I took after my first attempt. This book alone will get you similar results to just answering Bto all questions but if you have exhausted all other options and have $30 to blow consider it.

I have bought a lot of other Motor Age ASE study guides and they're fine, but this one is trash. The material in the book is simply not what is on the test. I should have believed all of the other poor reviews. I did pass the test, but zero credit goes to this book. I watched about 30 hours of hybrid instructional videos from Weber Automotive on You Tube. The videos are the best resource out there for L3 test takers (and they're free). Maybe Motor Age will step it up and rewrite this book to make it as good as their other ones. Until then, save your money. One star.

I should have listened to the reviews. I purchased this study guide because of my passed experience with Motor Age study guides. I have been happy in the past with the Motor Age study guides. These guides helped me reach Master Status.This book in no way shape or form will help you pass the L3 test. Very little relevance if any at all. Buy this study guide if you want to waste hours of study time and $106.00 in registration and test fees. Extremely disappointed!
