Performance at it's Finest
Great performance, gets the job done. I have a 5GB Uplink in my house and I transfer a lot of data between my Nas and my Laptop and it's a solid product. Speed and connectivity is solid no issues.

Finally, and affordable 5gbit ethernet adapter that really works
Gotta say, it looks like Plugable has done it again. Using it for a day so I can't speak to longevity, but the 2.5gbit version has been working great for years - we have several. This 5gbit adapter just plain works on our macs and QNAP multiple speed switch. Maybe 75 feet of old CAT-5 (NOT 5e) with a RJ-45 wall box in the path too.Our legacy 10gbit Thunderbolt adapters require separate power supplies, are large, heavy, not really portable, expensive, get hot, and are slow to negotiate. But, they give us 10gbits which is really nice to have. We have tried most other adapters to get us a more compact and compatible USB 5gbit speed and none have worked consistently - got too hot, etc.The Plugable 5gbit adapter has not become too warm in our use so far, and like I said, connects over normal legacy cables. It seems like a fine evolution to a faster speed and is the next best thing to 10gbits.

Solid Performance, But Warms Up with Extended Use
We recently upgraded to 5Gbps internet at our address and needed an Ethernet adapter that could actually handle those speeds. After trying different brands, the Plugable 5Gbps USB-C adapter did not disappoint!I'm using it in conjunction with a USB-C 3.2 hub and high-quality cables throughout. The performance has been stellar, transfers over Ethernet within the house are blazing fast, and downloads are consistently hitting expected speeds. Compared to the 1Gbps adapter I was using before, this one leaves it in the dust. The build quality is excellent. Both the USB-C and RJ45 ports feel solid and secure, no looseness or wiggle. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it tends to get a little warm during extended use. It's not a deal-breaker, but worth noting for long sessions.

5GB Speed
Perfect! 5GB speed. No problem. Don't forget to install the proper driver.

It’s getting 5Gbps Download
Got it to test my Fiber 5 Gbps speed from my router. Plugged into the routers 5gbps Ethernet port, using a cat6a cable, and plugged this into my iPhone 15 Pro Max. It immediately detected Ethernet and was ready to go. No drivers or anything. Speed test shows just under 5gbps on the download, upload shows much slower but best I’ve been able to see is around 1.5-4 gbps on the upload. It’s possible it’s just an issue with speed tests not spending enough time testing the upload side. It does get warm to the touch however, good if you need a hardwired option for your iphone/ipad, or other USBC device.

Great Quality
The Pluggable adapter worked perfectly out of the box with a REDLUX 2.5/5/10GBe SFP+ adapter plugged into a10 GB SFP+ switch. Speeds are great and constant with 5 Gb speeds.

Faster than 2.5 Gbps, but doesn't live up to its full 5 Gbps potential
It's better than 2.5 gigabit ethernet adapter, but it's not a full 5 gigabit ethernet adapter. My UGreen 2.5 G ethernet can get 2.3 gigabit downstream, and 2.2 gigabit upstream, which is reasonable given the typical network overhead. This Plugable 5 gigabit ethernet adapter got around 4.3 gigabit downstream and 3.2 gigabit upstream. So it wasn't a doubling of speed when switching to this faster adapter. A different desktop computer with an integrated 10 gigabit adapter on the same switch could get 9.2 gigabit downstream, and 6 gigabit upstream, which means that the speed difference is likely due to this adapter and not my network connection. For optimal results, plug it into your laptop directly instead of to your external display. The USB wire may be a little sensitive to bending, and it would probably be better if it were a little stiffer to avoid it bending too much. You get a little more performance by not bending it too much. While my network connection is solid, with this adapter, there was definitely some ramp up time when testing the speed. Sometimes it would be slow, and then the connection speed would get faster. In one test, this adapter dipped down to 340 Mbps when uploading for a while. I didn't notice this behavior as much with my UGreen adapter. It's also worth noting that my Plugable adapter was likely a return. The packaging was previously opened when it arrived. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I got a "new" product. It does feel hot to the touch when connected for a while. It is convenient and portable. You just have to plug it in, and it works. While I do recommend it, there are definitely some areas where it can be improved.
