Space Hulk: Tactics - PlayStation 4

Now, my Space Hulk Trilogy's physical collection is complete!

Had to write a review to balance out the 1-star one, because I really like this game. If you like top-down strategy like XCOM, this is similar though with a more balanced/simple game that plays like a great tabletop board game. Campaign is basically a long tutorial (one for each faction), so it seems made for player vs. player. It contains a cool feature used to design your own boards to play in.Warhammer 40K video games mostly miss what's great about Games Workshop games, the tabletop strategy, but this one captures it well. This is a solid and very challenging overhead turn-based strategy game that looks and plays well on consoles and even has a cool orchestral score.

I'm a long time fan of the Warhammer 40K universe. Space Hulk was one of the GW games way back in the late 80s. They recently released it as a beautiful new modular board game set a decade or so ago.This is that game in a digital format. It looks great. Turn based. Tactical in that you need to study the map layout and determine the best placement for your squad.Deathwing is Space Hulk as a first person shooter. This is chess, if chess had hallways, and doors, bolters and creepy aliens popping out of the ductwork to RIP your guts out ;D

The game looks great and the ability to switch from 1st person view to a tactical overview is wasted effort on a bad game. The controls are very cumbersome with almost no shortcuts (unless you want to change the view). The AI knows your actions (even with no line of sight) so if you accidently end your turn (say by bumping the touch pad) you will get screwed. The campaigns has long annoying blocks of text (yes, I screwed up and Grunt 2 died; I have no desire to hear some remf giving me some stupid speech).And yet another game that does not understand audio controls. If I turn the music off; I never want to hear any music (end of mission music is still music I do not want to hear).

I'm a huge warhammer fan, but this game was a huge disappointment...clunky controls and pretty bad graphics. Save your money..

This is such a great take on the space hulk world.

It looks like a great game, but beware, if you are using a Japanese PS4 Pro, the controls don’t function properly, with the Japanese system it won’t work properly. So please beware. Its a total waste of money.
