Amazing air conditioner! Cools the whole room and easy to install!

It's a basic AC, that I picked up for it's small size but high enough output for my bedroom/office. It puts out colder air than my 10,000 BTU Honeywell that is much larger. Noise: I shut if off during work meetings. While I do wish the unit was a bit quieter, the white noise actually helps me sleep better. My apartment has two truck bays next door with 2am and 4am deliveries. Even when it's not hot weather, I run this as a fan at night for this reason. Installation: Straightforward. I like that the kit included some weather stripping to seal the window. Because my window is narrower than the smallest setting for the window adapter strip, I had to cut it to fit into my window, which will be the trickiest part if you're working without the correct power tools (a chop saw is ideal for this part). I drilled a few holes in it with my powerdrill and used pressure to snap off the length I needed to remove. Reliability: I did have a problem that sounds very similar to what some other reviewers had mentioned - where there were cricket sounds, display flickering, and random shutting off. I contacted Whynter support and they directed me to the electrical connection for the display. I'm handy enough to be able to do this myself without much instruction. I disconnected and reconnected the display cable and haven't had problems since. If you're having problems, contact the manufacturer. I got a quick response.

I bought 2 of these. They were able to keep each floor of my house comfortable when it was in the 80s outside. If I close a door so that it works in the space it is created for, it cools it way down quickly. It is noisy, but I just used a fan while sleeping after I lowered the room temp. Still going after the whole summer!

I swear, I was being BOILED ALIVE in my apartment! It was SWELTERING, and my medication puts me at high risk of heat stroke. This AC cooled down my apartment in less than 10 minutes! We placed it in our living room, facing outwards so that it reaches the dining room, kitchen, and foyer. This bad boy is so efficient, we can feel all the way in the bedroom — sometimes I wake up with my teeth chattering, hahaha. I put a 5-gal bucket with wheels next to our AC with a plastic tube to drain in to. At first, it only needed to be drained twice in one week. As the weather got hotter (and more humid), we've had to drain it a bit more often; about once every day or two. Not bad at all, I HIGLY, HIGHLY recommend this AC!

Puts out a huge amount of cold air and removes a lot of humidity. But my only problem is that it exhausts a lot of air out of the house. Sort of defeats its purpose. I will get the dual hose one next time. Has an intake hose that cools and dehumidifies the outside air it pulls in. I moved it to my shop to dehumidify and keep dogs cool. It is the best dehumidifier out there. Blows cold air as it runs and blows hot air outside but still exhausts way too much air. I never run it when its 90 degrees out. Not efficient.

Unit works great in cooling my 300 sq foot bedroom, is quiet, and easily moves from room to room.

Received this unit quickly and in good condition about a month ago. The unit says on high fan it produces <51 dBa of noise which is fairly quiet and we were pleasantly suprised with how quiet it is even with the compressor on. The compressor coming on also does not make a loud, jarring noise as in some cheap units. We have a Hitachi unit with the same BTU rating and it is much louder. Unit installed quickly and easily. This unit has three fan speeds in AC but they can only be adjusted with the remote. (The speeds are low, high and auto). All advanced features on this unit are operated through the remote. Controls on the unit are very basic but adequate. If you are comparing noise levels on these portable ACs make sure you do so at similar flow (this unit =206 CFM) to understand relative noise levels (This unit<51dBa). If they don't publish this data they are not quiet. This unit consumes 9.8 amps with the compressor running- fairly efficient for a 10K BTU unit. This unit has a very small footprint (12" x 12") so it does not take much floor space which is very nice. You can tuck it in a corner or up against the wall and hardly notice it is there. We wish these portable AC units would come with adjustable vertical and horizontal louvers for air flow control. This unit has adequate vertical (up/down) control louvers but only allows control of about 30% of horizontal (left/right) air flow. Better than most at this price point however. We picked ours up early season for $288. We really like this unit and it has performed well. Remember if you want to prevent the negative air pressure these portable AC units can produce (due to drawing room air in and exhasuting it to cool the evaporator coil) get a two hose unit such as the ARC-122DHP. They are more efficient becuase they pull outside air in to cool the evaporator causing minimal air turnover in the conditioned space. The are more expensive on a BTU equivalency basis but cheaper to run in the long term.

Overall great product. Would be nice to have Low-Med-High fan speeds instead of just two settings.
