Question 1

My chimney pipe is a Selkirk 6T-36, which has a 6" inner diameter and 8" outer diameter.  Will this chimney cap work over this pipe section?

yes it should , chimney pipes are measured by the i.d., so 6" inner with 8" od. calls for a 6" cap it's confusing but i bought the same cap for my 6" chimney with8" od

Question 2

I installed this chimney cap and am experiencing a lot of Backdraft into my woodstove is there way to improve it or do I need to replace it with a difwith a different product

Backdrafts or smoke spills are rarely related to the cap. If it is just at start up, one needs to get more heat faster(ie loosely wadded newspaper) to prime the chimney. Dry wood is important as well.  In times of heavy barometric pressure and heavy moist outside air attaining draft is much more difficult. The cap should terminate 2' taller than anything within 10' horizontal.  Negative pressure in the home can result in smoke. If opening a door or window on the opposing side of the home that the woodstove is in temporarily fixes the spilling then you have negative pressure issue.

You may want to try your local sheet metal HVAC shop. They could make you an adaper to go from 14” to 6” but I think you should try a wood stove dealer they may be able to help. Good Luvk

Question 4

I have a triple wall pipe for a wood burning stove. the inner pipe is 6" Not sure what the outer diameter is. Do you think this will fit it okay?

I'm using one of these on my outdoor wood furnace with a 6" ID double wall stainless pipe.  The outer diameter is closer to 8.5" or so and the band is expandable with a basic machine screw for a clamp.
