Blade is sharp and very beautiful but.......
So.... when I got the sword I was truly excited and Literally waited till I was sure to write a review cause I had real concerns that the product wouldn't hold up and I am not talking about the blade but the handle and separate parts.... with all honesty I haven't even used it in any type of training as of yet and when I went to check out the finer details the end metal piece literally just dropped off then the wrappings started to follow it was only then I fully realized how cheap the molding truly was I can not express how deeply disappointed to have a product that has only been displayed thus far to suddenly have the end pieces just fall off like it wasn't meant to be there the blade is really good but it doesn't matter if you cant hold it by the handle...

but I was not super happy about that
I received this sword with small rust spots on it, which had no real impact on the blade, but I was not super happy about that. I managed to clean them up fairly well, so I opted not to send the sword back for a refund as it was going to see heavy cutting from practice. My biggest issue with this sword is that the more ornate features (the fittings on the saya and the menuki (ornament under the ito) of the sword came apart very easily. Also the saya does not fit very well to the blade, and it would get so stuck that I would have to hit the tsuba with a small hammer or board to be able to free it. I transferred the sword to the saya of a different katana and it works well with that one. It is quite heavy which I do like, but the tsuba and handle fittings are coming loose after a couple of missed cuts. The blade is extremely strong, sharp, and the damscus pattern is very unique which is the redeeming factor for this sword. I personally would not recommend this sword as Auway makes another katana called the Orchid which is both cheaper and of better quality.

Should be 5 Stars!! Still Extremely Satisfied!
*Updated from a previous review*After several months of use, some of the scabbard fittings have come loose and will slide around... The single pin holding them in place is not durable enough. However, the sword itself, both blade and hilt, remain in place and sturdy. The end of the hilt (the pommel piece) is now loose on mine (it too has a single pin holding it in place), but has yet to actually come off.I am still very pleased with the sword, and will continue to use it (sword training and reenactment events) until pieces actually start to break, at which point it will become a static display. The sword is very beautiful, well balanced, and razor sharp even after months of frequent use.I had rated Five Stars initially. I am taking one star off for lack of durability concerning the scabbard fittings and pommel... Otherwise, it would still be Five Stars for me!

Quality control and inspection prior to shipping
I didn’t expect a “A” quality product for the price I paid. I did however expect a product that was basically functional and looked clean. What I received was a swird that was stuck and unable to be withdrawn without prying and black glue all over the handle. It was obvious very poor quality and a disappointment

Zombies beware...
Came as expected, I bought it as a gift for my son and he loves it. Beautiful and sharp. It fits tightly into the scabbard so it's really hard to draw it out, but I'm familiar with these types of swords and know that it just needs to be broken in for a while. Besides, you don't want it sliding out accidentally. I asked my son why he wanted this for Christmas. (It's not a toy you can play with, it's a real sword.) He claims he's ready for the Zombie Apocalypse should it happen... LOL... Can't argue with that logic, I guess...

Looks are all it has.
Beautiful, but a serious disappointment. Engravings that attached scabbard to lanyard were each held in place by a single tiny brad. Both fell out within days and the pieces would slide up and down the scabbard. The handguard was loose. Put it on a stand and DON'T TOUCH IT, EVER!!! Showpiece only. It will not even stand up to minimal handling. Sent it back. Would love to have it, if it was a strong as it was good looking.

The outer cover for the sword looks nice and it feels really nice
The outer cover for the sword looks nice and it feels really nice, but the blade gets stuck in the scabard and so trying to pull it out results in cuts because it comes out all of sudden and the blade is SHArP!!!
