The Poetry of Pablo Neruda

This is an excellent compilation of Pablo Neruda poems, mostly translated to English but some also include the original Spanish. I got this back in high school as an assignment and loved it and annotated it to death. It's a thick book but totally worth it for anyone who wants an introduction to the full spectrum of Neruda's work. It spans across his entire career and is organized thoughtfully.

I’m just reviewing the condition of the book from the seller, not the content of this book. For the record, if you’ve never read anything by Pablo Neruda, this is a wonderful collection of his poetry. But back to the condition of the book. It was described as “Good” but I think it’s just about brand new. No marking on the book at all, no highlights, no torn corners. It’s truly in GREAT shape and arrived very, very quickly.I’m so pleased and hope to use this seller again in the not too distant future. Many, many thanks to the seller, Red’s Corner.

Huge volume but it looks and feels good. Very readable and a MUCH more thorough sampling of Neruda's work than I've seen previously. There are a few Spanish originals scattered throughout, though not on adjacent pages to the translation.

I heard a poem of his in a movie, or read it in a book quoted, I can't remember, but I loved it so much I wanted all of his poetry. Thick book, some in Spanish, most is in English.

I love Neruda, and this thing is massive. Absolutely huge....like the New York City telephone directory from the 1980s huge. I'm talking big and thick. Each of the poems is represented in English and Spanish. It's such a tremendous resource and it is so incredibly comprehensive in regard to the scope of this great poet's work. I may just buy another copy of this as a back up...that's how much I love it. If you're trying to decide which Neruda collection to buy, let me tell you that this is the one you want.

At over 900 pages (not counting the intro, bibliography, notes, and index) this is an impressive compilation of Neruda's poetry. I am, however, disappointed that a few of my favorite poems are missing and that there are so few poems presented in the original Spanish. Those that are presented come before the English translations rather than on the facing pages. I like the dual-language facing-page layout because it helps me to improve my Spanish in a much easier way. But for anyone who has few or none of this great poet's work and who is not particularly interested in language study, there probably isn't a better choice out there for a general overview.

If you’re a fan of Neruda or looking to explore his works, this is for you. I was not disappointed and will treasure this as long as I can.

A lot of stimulating poetry in readable translations with occasional original texts to compare, so ideal if you are not sufficiently proficient to read the originals but are willing to spend a little time working out how the translator has approached his task.

The delivery time is over a month but I received it within the promised date. It’s well packed and the book material is premium quality. It’s worth the wait and a magnificent collection to have for a poetry lover
