MacGregor Economy Plastic Whistle Pack, Black (One-Dozen)

I bought these whistles to put in outdoor survival kits for my Bear Scouts "Let's go Camping!" end of the year unit. I was originally going to buy the more expensive metal whistles on amazon until I remembered oh, yeah. Metal freezes to moist warmth in cold climates--and so with visions of my boys running around (accidentally or deliberately--you pick!) with whistles frozen to their lips, blowing frantically? I decided, albeit a bit skeptically, to use these whistles instead.When they arrived I took them out of the box and looked them over and was extremely impressed! For the price, I was expecting whistles with the balls that rotate in the chamber to produce the whistling sound frozen or cheaply constructed, brittle plastic. Neither was true. All of the whistles worked perfectly, producing a clear, sharp sound, and the plastic is thick and durable. To date as I am writing this review, the extra whistle my daughter got from this package has been stepped on no less than three times by the full weight of a larger adult male and it has not cracked, let alone broken. I feel like I got my money's worth and then some with these whistles!Bottom Line: If you are considering these whistles wondering if they will hold up or do the simple job they are supposed to do, buy with confidence! You'll be pleasantly surprised and glad that you did.

First off, I worked as a lifeguard for many years so I know the importance of a good whistle and what exactly makes a whistle good. Let me be the first to tell you this is the best whistle you will EVER buy. The sound is so crisp and it takes so much less air to blow it than any other whistle I've ever used. It's loud and, because of the air thing I mentioned before, very easy to blow for a really long time. There's just something about how it feels that I can't describe because its absolutely the perfect whistle. And now whistles do break easily. You wont find a whistle that doesn't eventually take a beating and break. But this one is very strong and durable. It has survived many hits to a metal pole while I was twirling it around my finger up in the stand because that's just what lifeguards do. And it does not usually break when that happens. Keyword usually because sometimes it will but again all whistles do. The good thing is you still have 11 more whistles because this pack comes with 12 of the best whistles money can buy!!!!!!! And even despite all that its a fantastic price. All I can say is if you buy this whistle you will never buy any other type of whistle in your life.

This whistle was amazing the whistle makes a very loud sound good for getting peoples attention on the play structure definitely a great buy!

As a loss prevention officer, football/soccer coach, and relief referee this dozen pack of whistles is a must have! For my job and coaching, I go through whistles quite frequently due to frequent use so the multi-packs are great to have. Plus if your fellow loss prevention officer, coach, referee loses their whistle you can offer them a couple and still have a lot on hand. I bought 5 boxes of these awesome whistles. These are cheap, but quality is awesome. These are just as good as the pealess whistles and sounds about the same. Great for getting attention, traffic detail, and sports use! These are also great to place in your emergency kits such as: Disaster kits, vehicle breakdown kits, emergency call back kits for loss prevention-security officers, and other emergency kits. I have at least two whistles per kit. I also put two of these in my coaching bag and referee bag. I highly recommend these to all coaches, loss prevention officer, and referees! You won't be sorry!

My husband used these along with the Champion Sports Neon Nylon Lanyards and they worked great for his phys. ed. students. He gave his "teacher for a day" students a whistle with their own lanyard in order to run class. It worked perfectly! Also, my husband kept a few for himself as he tends to bite on his whistles throughout the day (and thereby ruin them quickly!). All in all-- 5 stars!

EXCELLENT -- lightweight, compact, LOUDattention getting shrill blast can scare off an attacker [ for a woman or child ] GET attention! [ when you need it ]I've given these as gifts to women and kids in my life for their protection -- and *I* have one as well on my keychain and in my pocket*my* 15 YO Shela is losin her hearin -- and instead of havin to YELL to git her attention, [ like at the dog park ] I just give her a blast or three -- [ dependin on how FAST I want her to come - ] 1 is "hey" 2 is "git movin" 3 is "git yer tail OVER here RIGHT NOW!" :)

I'm a lifeguard, and my original whistle was as MacGregor. I loved it, but after a few years of use it was starting to crack and I would frequently lose it. I was stressed out about losing it and having to use a crappy whistle instead. I was super delighted to find out how cheap they are on Amazon! I bought a 12-pack, kept a few for myself and gave a few to my workers. Everyone agrees they are the best lifeguarding whistles because they are light but loud.

I'm very happy. It took a while to get them but there from Singapore and with the dock strikes who knows... I haven't tried one yet, but I can tell you that I think there very good. Better than what I see in local stores. The ones I got had two small holes on top. Each hole was on the right and left side just in front of the round part. And a third hole under the front round part on the under side. Ya, three holes... There was not a pee in the whistle and a good metal ring for a neck string. Blows easy. These whistle did not appear to be a cheap whistles. It was heavy built and had no ruff edges. I bought this set for old people I know that need a back up to any system that calls for help. At this cost a whistle for help can be place all over a home. I may use one for my trail hiking. If I hear a gun going off out of season. Crap! any gun when out in the woods or fishing on shore. So many use's.
