WWE - Born To Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story DVD (3 Discs)

This is a perfectly laid out reflection of Piper's wrestling career. The first disc was the documentary plus further tales/deleted scenes. Plus a couple of early matches. Then disc two was full of Piper's key matches in his career - bizarrely they aren't in chronological order for example Piper's Intercontinental Match vs Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 8 comes BEFORE him winning the same belt at the Royal Rumble months earlier! And that is the reason the review got marked down at 4 stars.Then there's the third disc - The Piper's Pits! Again the Pits weren't all in order and for some odd reason the Pit at Madison Square Garden with Mr. T and Hogan was repeated and inserted earlier than the listing on the contents sheet. What was highlights for me was seeing the full segments of Pits, I'd only seen clips of - Piper and Snuka, Andre challenging Hogan and the famous Morten Downey fire extinguisher Pit at Wrestlemania 5. To see that in full was a treat all though there was a strange, but worked, edit. one moment Brother Love was in The ring - the next he'd disappeared. maybe the full version is seen on the Wrestlemania 5 dvd - I hope! Two other Pit highlights was Piper saying goodbye in 1989.. talking about his family. it was rather touching. Then the other highlight was Piper and Mr. America aka Hulk Hogan with Mr America's biggest fan who at that point was an unknown Zach Gowen. I remember vaguely the segment before I re-watched it so I knew what was coming.. but it made great TV! and surrealy funny too!

Rowdy Roddy Piper was one of my favourite legends, no stranger to controversy he would say anything to get a rise out of his Piper Pit guests or whoever he was against in the ring. This 3 DVD set is a must for any Piper fans. Disk 1 is Pipers story, from how he got into wrestling to his hall of fame induction. Disk 2 is some of his greatest matches including the hair vs hair match against Adrian Adonis with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake in Pipers corner. Disc 3 is Pipers Pit from 1984 to 2006. Personally I would have liked more of his time in WCW but you only get snippets, the majority of this box set is WWF/E.

I had been after a WWE Rowdy Roddy Piper DVD for a long long time and this does not disappoint,disk one has an in depth documentary,disk two has some of his great matches and then we have disk three which is the perfect cherry on top and has many if not all of Piper Pit. If like me your a fan of the wrestler and actor as I am then this is for you,so buy and enjoy you won't be disappointed.

Hot Rod is the man! My friend (who was a WWF fan from 1990 onwards and never rated piper much) couldnt believe how cool Roddy was ... i agree! A heat seeker par excellence!
