An extremely valuable contribution to the understanding of a controversial icon
This is one of John Stott's best works. Engaging and insightful Stott invites the reader to explore with him an in-depth search of the multifacted aspects of the meaning and symbolism of the Christian religions cross. John Stott has illuminated this subject so eloquently that I consider it to be appealing and informative enough to capture the attention and respect of any reader interested in understanding the significance of this ancient yet contemporary icon. This book has made such a deep and broad impact upon my personal faith that I continually lend or give the book away to others for their edification. As it now stands I need to buy another copy for myself since I gave my last one away and will probably purchase a half dozen or more.

Wonderful book!
Wonderful book!! Such in-depth research. John Stott pulls from Christian theologians through the ages to help the reader understand the meaning of the Cross to us and to Jesus. I am using this as an extra resource while doing a group study of the smaller study book.

The Cross of Christ
This represents the Dr. John R. W. Stott at his best. It was written shortly prior to his passing. Telling the Gospel Story has been a life long passion of Dr. Stott. In this masterpiece he puts it all together. It is a must for every Christian Library.

The Cross As Never Seen Before
An enormously important book for the thinking Christian. Many are the revelations concerning the error of early church fathers. Some of the most difficult issues such as satisfaction and substitution are clarified in convincing language.

Be ready to give an answer
To potential readers,I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand atonement. It is essential to know how a God of Justice could accept the life's blood of the only innocent man that ever was as a substitute for the sin of all mankind. The cross is perhaps more misunderstood today than ever before, but the power of God is revealed in the message of the cross (1 Cor. 1:18). Explaining the very foundation of our faith cannot be done without a deep comprehension of the meaning of the cross.John Stott's book is an edifying blessing!Prisca
