These food covers sit flat on the table and fold down for storage. They are easy to open and close, one handed if necessary. I know, cuz I did it with one arm in a sling. I admit I am primarily concerned about keeping flies and yellow jackets out of the food, and these work great for that. Will they keep out tiny gnats or an ant that is on the table? Probably not. Something tiny could crawl under at the bottom. But not a horde of them, and where I am, flies and yellow jackets are the threat. These covers keep them out, so we don't have to toss the antipasti because we can't convince the flying insects to leave. In fact, once they realize they can't get to the food, they just buzz off.These won't stay on the table in a high wind unless you weigh them down. But I don't like to eat outdoors in a high wind, so that's okay with me.

I like the 3 sizes. The smallest one fits well over an average sized dinner plate. They work well to keep fruit flies and other larger bugs from getting to your food, but if you have a concern for gnats and other tiny bugs, some will get in. They can maneuver their way in through the tiny holes or they can get in from the bottom. The cover does not sit completely flush on the table or counter top, so some gnats and tiny bugs have a chance to get in. The number of gnats that get in is significantly lower though, as they have to work a little harder to get inside. If there was a way to design this item so that the bottom sits completely flat on the surface, I would give it 5 stars.

Right now tomatoes are just rolling into the kitchen from our garden, and I need to keep them safe from fruit flies. The (set of three) pop-up food covers are perfect for this. I stash our bananas under them, too -- I imagine they might also work well for baked goods. I very much appreciate that when I don't need them, they collapse down and take up very little storage space. I recommend these for indoor and outdoor use, great on a picnic, ideal for whatever you need to protect and cover. Quality is just fine; I would order them again.

I used these as an insect cover in the garden for young plants. they are easy to move around and I secured with a small rock on the edge of the rings. They kept the bugs off the seedlings and let air and water pass through. I may order another set to use next year, I could use more of these.I expect they work really well for picnics and barbeques, haven't used them for that. They store flat and hold their pop-up size too.

The company made a mistake on our order, they rapidly corrected the error and we still received our order on time. Although these are much cheaper than most of the others offered, they appear to be just as well made and they are exactly as described. They do not have bottoms they simply sit over the food dishes or bowls.

This review is based on how well they were made and how they may function. Won't use until summer picnics.

These Pop Up covers are exactly what I expected. They're easy to use to cover food exposed outside to flying bugs. And easy to store when not in use. They come in three different sizes, so they'll be able to use on everything. The price is right so I think I'll need to order another set.

The elastic will wear out very soon. Could have a better mechanism for holding them closed. The size and shape are great. A set of the same size would also be good (eg plate-size like the smallest size in this set).

I am paranoid about flies on food, and these work well. The size variety is great, and the big one is perfect for covering my homemade cheese while it is air drying before ageing.

These covers are perfect for camping or outdoor meals on the deck, I highly recommend them
