Slightly better than a wad of chewing gum
I was really hoping for a bit more from these RJ45 jack covers. I knew they were molded and didn't include the plastic spring tab that is incorporated into all RJ plugs, so I expected a fairly tight friction fit. It's a good thing I bought the pack of 50 because there is a wide variation in the dimensional tolerance on these units. Some fit fairly well, while others were so loose they just rattled around and fell out of the jack. Even the ones that pressed in somewhat tightly could easily be knocked out with a slight bump. The covers have the consistency of hard rubber, so I was able to shave down the sides to get a very nice fit on RJ11 jacks. They are hollow in the middle, though, so it is not possible to shave them down further to fit into an "RJ9" (4P4C) handset jack.I bought these covers to protect the jacks on our computerized telescopes (Celestron CPC 925 and Meade ETX-125), which use all three sizes of jacks. The scopes are exposed to dust, bugs, & humidity while outside, but only some of the jacks have connectors in them during normal use. These press-in covers are better than nothing, but I think I'll be more satisfied if I just make my own replacements after all these fall out and get lost. I think the way to go is to crimp each connector with no wire inserted, then epoxy in a small plastic tab or handle to easily pull the connector out when the spring clip is released.

Happy customer
I have bought several of these. I was concerned that they might not fit well, but that hasn't been the case. They fit snugly enough that they won't fall out, yet a gentle tug on the convenient knob allows for easy removal. I've since bought more of the same product from here at Amazon, with consistently good results. I'm now protecting the wall outlets as well as spare ports on network switches. I have found that it is not a single-use product - I can plug and unplug a number of times, and they still fit snugly.

Blocking dirt and dust just like I wanted
Have several switches in utility rooms with their jacks facing up. Bought these and filled the empty jacks. The fit fine and seem to work. Would have got 5 stars if they fit a bit tighter first time in. If I wiggle and push, I can get them in pretty good.I could not find anything better out there. Maybe I should just install empty RJ-45's.

When your choices are limited...
There's surprisingly not a lot of choices for this type of product on Amazon. I couldn't find anything on Monoprice either. These do the job. They fit in both brands of keystones I use and in one of my switches. For my 16 port Trendnet switch (TEG-S16DG), I had to do some modifications. I had to trim back the high ridge where the cable end release would be. Once I did that, they fit. I do wish they were a softer/rubbery design. These are fairly firm plastic.

Ok for Standard Density not for High Density
I purchased these dust covers to cover up unused ports on a vertically mounted switch. They seem to fit fine with standard density switches but do not work with high density switches or PBX's that have high density port arrangements. If I were looking to cover up ports in a standard switch (1-5) I would use this cover. However, If I needed to cover a much larger area I would choose another dust cover.

Hard Plastic
Made from very had plastic. Not rubbery at all. Use a little bit of caution when removing from the Server / patch panel / wall socket.

I have needed these for years! Finally!
Fits perfectly, easy to remove, highly recommended for when your RJ45's that are unused are in a dusty, dirty location or facing up.
