Samsung DA97-12540G Genuine OEM Auger Motor Assembly for Samsung Refrigerators

Ice maker change wasn't enough and repair person quoted me $650 after being $100 in the hole for evaluation. Told me the LED was bad on the auger motor and needed a replacement + a controller board. Ordered a new auger motor and didn't need a controller board after doing research. A couple of YT videos later - Let there be Ice!!!!

This genuine Samsung product was an exact fit and not too hard to install.

Supposedly a Samsung OEM part, worked for a couple weeks and quit. Seller is unresponsive. Working with Amazon to be reimbursed.

I installed this in a Samsung RF28HDEDPWW/AA refrigerator to solve an ice maker problem. Namely frequent frost buildup, then wet, soft ice along with water dripping out the dispenser all the time. I had suspected the little fan on my old unit, that circulates air over the freezer coil, had failed. Maybe it did, but regardless, the fan and the duct it lines up on were packed with ice. Cleared all that out, silicone sealed the ice maker compartment inside seam (lower edge near the inside wall of the refrigerator), and installed this new unit. The ice maker is now functioning like it did when new. I'll be monitoring ice buildup more carefully, and probably pull this auger unit out now and then, to check the fan and it's duct to avoid a repeat ice blockage/jam.

Purchased this to fix the problem of receiving crushed ice only from our Samsung refrigerator. The solenoid that switches between crushed/cubed ice failed and this seemed to be the only solution for the problem. When the solenoid failed, the ice began to pick up an oily smell and flavor to it. Replacing this part seemed to be overkill just to fix an ice cube issue, but it did resolve the foul smell/taste issue as well. Another bonus is that this is an updated part from the original that will supposedly solve part of the icing/frosting issues of the original part. All in all, a winning solution to a couple of issues, but a pricey one. The purchase of this part just about completely rebuilds the icemaker unit in our Samsung refrigerator. I have replaced the actual icemaker, as well as the ice bin as well as many parts in an effort to resolve the constant frost buildup of the original unit. I will never again purchase a refrigerator with an icemaker that is anywhere but in the freezer compartment.

Easy installation, works great, fixed my fridge! Making ice consistently. Better than new! No more ice dams or manual manipulation needed to make ice.
