Yes it needs to refrigerated after opening. This isn't Tabasco sauce thats basically vinegar filtered through pepper mash. If any hot sauce has any organics in it (peppers, tomatoes, onions etc), it needs to be refrigerated. It won't kill you if you store it in the cupboard, but you most likely will need to make sure you got plenty of toilet paper on hand. Also, it literally says "refrigerate after opening" on the label. It's a fantastic hot sauce, do what they ask, lol. Refrigerate after opening.

Mine was silver. It has a very small tasting spoon inside. The sauce is very hot.
