B.B. Blues Legend
~ "B.B. King - Blues Legend" by Dave Rubin is the second B.B. King book/CD in the Hal Leonard Guitar Signature Licks series - the first being "B.B. King - The Definitive Collection (Guitar Signature Licks)" by Wolf Marshall. This books contains 12 popular B.B. songs, perhaps not as well known as the 16 songs featured in "B.B. King - The Definitive Collection" but equally enjoyable. Learning the licks in this book (as well as those in "The Definitive Collection") will provide any guitarist with a firm basis for the understanding of the genius of B.B. King.~ The 48-page book begins with a 3-page biography of B.B. The CD features demonstrations of the transcriptions by a quartet. The transcriptions in standard notation and tab notation are faithful to the accompanying disc, and they are close enough to the original B.B. King version to allow the student of this book to approach the sound of B.B. King. Each transcription is fully analyzed and explained by Dave Rubin.~ The listing of the tunes follows along with a brief description of what is transcribed.* B.B.'s Boogie - intro, 36 bar solo* Blue Shadows - intro, 12-bar solo* Every Day I Have The Blues - intro, 12-bar solo* Help The Poor - intro, 8-bar solo* How Blue Can You Get - intro, 16-bar solo* It's My Own Fault Darlin' - intro, 13-bar solo* Just Like A Woman - intro, three 12-bar solos* Lucille - intro, 36-bar solo* Please Accept My Love - intro, 8-bar solo* Shake It Up And Go - intro, one 12-bar solo, one 24-bar solo* So Excited - intro, one 24-bar solo, second 24-bar solo* Woke Up This Morning - intro~ Highly recommended to any guitarist wanting to learn how to play like B.B. King; however, I suggest starting with "B.B. King - The Definitive Collection" for reasons discussed in my review of that item.

Blues lover
Bought for my blues loving, guitar playing spouse. I like the blues too, but this one - and some others - was particularly for him.

Good overall, but lacking on one song!
After purchasing an earlier version by Wolf Marshall (The Definitive Collection), I decided to pick this book up for one song. I have always wanted to learn "It's My Own Fault", but the transcription of the song in this book is not up to par. Dave Rubin adds an entire page and a half of notes, but not nearly enough tab on the song. The rest of the book is actually quite thorough. The instruction on 'How Blue Can You Get" is dead on. So in closing, it's a great book, but only if you are NOT buying it for "It's My Own Fault".
